Three ex-IGN staffers are building something new After losing their jobs last month, they’ve launched X BUTTON: independent gaming coverage with weekly Nintendo and video game podcasts.… via www.patreon.com #XButton #Gaming #Nintendo #Podcasts #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart

This is the kind of out of the box thinking that's going to take us into the 21st century

Scary Acey@acey.sh

making an #atproto competitor called utproto (unauthorised transfer protocol) in which anyone may write into anyone else's repository without restriction, creating a truly open web

got jump scared by my own post 🤣

I've learned I can build up a tolerance to jump scares. I have to start with tv-tier jumpscares like some ghost hunting tv show, then onto old 80s and 90s horror where it is fairly tame. Slowly escalate until I can watch the most recent popular horror films.

There's a paradox that needs a name. Every individual UI update seems like a step backwards. But then you look back at old screenshots/vids and see that the UIs look ridiculous and outdated... UI Moonwalking

The everything-has-to-have-rounded-corners curse has returned. The fastest google search I've done after a firefox update. browser.nova.enabled to false and the old design is back, for now.

Firefox 157 drops today, bringing back Compact Mode, this time with its own dedicated setting. During early testing many of you shared that you didn’t want to lose density in the new design. That feedback directly impacted this release.

I think using my standing desk has wrecked my ankles. Weird I walked 2-3 miles all summer long pretty consistently and was fully healthy. I'm seriously confused how people work jobs like cashier. Is a little cushy mat actually that effective? I'm also wondering if it has a psychological component

I thought I had rsi issues for a year or so, learned to make my own keyboards and use voice to text programs to get around it... looking back on it I'm not even 100% that it was a real physiological problem and not just my subconscious not wanting to sit at a desk ever again 🤣

The game will have a variety of cool looking critters. In this video I just added the mechanic of spawning different variants of the same critters. And yes... You get to hit them with a hammer before catching 🥴 #gamedev #devlog #shiny #pokemon #unity #indie

The 'unload tab' feature on firefox has been a great help lately. Lots of vibecoded webapps make my computer fan go crazy.. what are they even doing? 🤣

This is exactly the kind of thing I hoped we’d see built from Bluesky: a dedicated corner for researchers, designed around discovery, discussion and papers rather than engagement algorithms. Really interesting experiment in what social media can be. 🧪📚 #atproto #science #edu #math #research

For the past six months @mariaa.bsky.social and I have been working on creating an improved research experience on atproto. It's now live! Check out: lea.ac

My tendency to save constantly is kinda biting me in unreal engine. I opened an old project to poke around and was fighting muscle memory the whole time 🤣 At least version control exists as a saftey net.

For years I thought I was doing my eyes a favor by turning the brightness down on my monitors. I turned the brightness way up to watch Obsession and left it that way... I can feel myself blinking more and my eyes feel the best they have in the longest time...

There is no bigger github graveyard than ochem diagram javascript libraries. So many abandoned broken projects, I'm assuming written by grad students during the coding bootcamp bubble.

I would love if whatever keybind cursor has set up to completely screw up the layout of the sidebars would just go away? Maybe something weird with my keyboard cause it feels like once a week maybe my palms touch the alt button and all hell breaks loose.

Asking again if anyone is still on the standing desk grind? I've been trying 1 hour sitting, 1 hour standing. I'm confused how standing for 1 hour seems harder on my legs than walking for an hour? Should I buy one of those little stepper things my grandma used to use?

If standing desks are so healthy then why does my entire lower body hurt after 20 minutes at my desk? 🤔

Yall seen how much some of these course creators are charging? 300 dollars a bit steep for a gamedev course, no? 😮‍💨 Or is inflation actually that bad 😬

I wonder how many people pursued stupid business and app ideas because chatgpt was aligned to be positive and helpfui... 🤣 Also kinda realizing I'm one of them 😭
