the biggest presidential scandal in history but the political media largely acts as if it's not happening. hasan piker has received more mainstream political media coverage over the last 6 months than trump's connections with epstein has

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

i can never tell if these people know they are creating a corrupt system of influence peddling or they really are unable to think a single step ahead to the obvious outcome of their ideas

Boston’s chief planner is a true believer in the San Francisco model, in which you make it impossible to profitably build apartments by-right so developers are forced into a politicized discretionary negotiation with the city, which relaxes the rules in exchange for below-market units.

Wait, Vivek went to a Jesuit high school and this is how he turned out? Disgusting. Embarrassing. Kudos to these alums!

Kirsten Bladh@kerstanley.bsky.social

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

The WA GOP is pushing sprawl hard. Meanwhile tree people in Seattle enable that sprawl by blocking infill housing - even though sprawl is *far* more destructive to forests, rivers, and thus to the salmon and the orcas that depend on the salmon.

On KUOW this week former AG Rob McKenna lamented the low availability of housing stock in unincorporated King County and suggested potential expansion of the urban growth boundary to open up land. Unincorporated KC is meeting its growth target & most growth is happening in cities. This is GOOD.

It is true that putting in place a UGA without simultaneously upzoning our cities was a mistake. And I’m on the board of Futurewise which I think gives me some credibility to say that. But we’ve now rectified that problem! Sprawl is a scourge that our policies should fight, not enable.

A landmarks board member opposing this because it “maximizes housing” should be grounds for immediate removal. @mayor.seattle.gov should step in. These seats are all mayoral selections. Remove this guy

A retrofit to build a new mass-timber addition above the Doyle Building at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street has added six floors since the Seattle Landmarks Board saw it last year. That change is only likely to intensify opposition. Story: www.theurbanist.org/downtown-hig...

And that’s how it works in the rest of the world!

My housing hot take is we shouldn’t offer fixed rate mortgages. Everything should be adjustable rate. You should be impacted by politics and inflation the way renters are. It would reform politics for the better.

Tonight, CDMX opened El Paseo de la Reforma—one of its most important and storied streets—to bicyclists for Paseo Nocturno Muévete en Bici. It feels like a million people showed up.

I mean, it is Día de Muertos, but still. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such active and fun street life. Maybe Delhi? But that was different.

NO! Claude Mythos did not “do” that! ANTHROPIC ENGINEERS wrote code that did that! ANTHROPIC should be held accountable for what their code does!!

Why is there literally only a single elected official in the Greater Seattle region who is unambiguously good on transit?

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

The Sound Transit board is about to vote on a 2027 service plan that starts 2 Line service 25 minutes later every day and ends it 15 minutes earlier Mon-Saturday to provide more time for system maintenance. Claudia Balducci jumped in to say that the agency's goal should be running trains 24/7.

I think it’s worth noting that over here in Spokane, even one of our most boisterous Republicans, Al French, has historically been quite pro-transit, and deserves some real credit for keeping City Line under-budget while providing stellar amenities and service.

The California Insurance Commissioner’s choices affect every homeowner and driver in the state. Jane Kim is an incompetent political climber who would blow up California’s already-in-crisis insurance market if elected. It is VITALLY IMPORTANT that every Californian vote for Ben Allen.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

In my opinion, progressives like Sanders should not be endorsing hardcore NIMBYs like Kim. And hardcore NIMBYs like Kim should not be allowed to call themselves progressives.

Like, she seems to be the only one legitimately interested in digging into ways to make service better, improve speed of delivery, and reduce costs. She is like the Buffy Wicks of Greater Seattle transit.

They’re talking about e-motos, not e-bikes. Hope that helps.

skooks@skookses.bsky.social

What I've always thought is that e-bikes will ruin things for normal bicycles. Cities will make no distinction between them as they tighten regulations lailluminator.com/2026/10/22/r...
