It may feel like it takes 20 years to get home, but we promise it won't. Starting tonight, Sept. 14, southbound Browne St. will be reduced to two lanes from Main Ave. through Pacific Ave. Overnight work will include additional lane closures. Drivers are urged to plan ahead. #SpokaneStreets

The Bicycle Advisory Board will be leading bike buddy rides on Sept. 15, from your local library or community center to City Hall, where there will be an additional ride looping downtown. Sprocket & Sprinkles will also be at City Hall, so be sure to get some ice cream and support a local business!

One of Spokane’s most treasured community assets is its parks. Through the DNR Trust Land Transfer program, the City has the opportunity to transform the 199-acre Thorpe parcel into a park. We look forward to working with the Legislature to fund this land transfer. dnr.wa.gov/news/2026/tr...

The City of Spokane is working closely with @emd.wa.gov to seek a Major Disaster Declaration from the federal government. If approved, the federal government would provide individual assistance to those affected by the Spokane Complex Fire.

Important wildfire news: FEMA has informed us that as of yesterday, they are declaring an end to the federal emergency period for the wildfires in Eastern Washington. That means our request for a federal Major Disaster Declaration is due Sept. 29.

One month ago, Spokane experienced one of the most devastating days in our history. Homes were lost, families were displaced, and uncertainty loomed over our city as evacuations remained in place for well over a week.

Since then, we have seen the best of our community. Across Spokane, neighbors checked in on neighbors. In the aftermath, we saw nonprofits, businesses, volunteers, and folks from near and far step forward to help.

We have been overwhelmed by the response and generosity shown to Spokane. As we move forward and begin to rebuild, we hope to carry that same positive spirit.

Words will never encapsulate the deep gratitude I have for every firefighter, law enforcement officer, emergency manager & incident commander who traveled here to help our region. They left their own communities to stand alongside ours, and their expertise, manpower & sacrifice have been invaluable.
