Diego will be at @wordbookstores.bsky.social in Brooklyn on Tuesday at 7pm, reading and in conversation with Michael Cavuto. Spend some time with a book about one of the most basic human necessities (WATER!) and the ways it can be corrupted and kept from those who need it the most!!!

I am way too online for my own good, and I had an unreasonably large twitter following, and I really *enjoyed* twitter for a lot of years, and yet leaving there and never looking back was maybe the easiest what-felt-like-a-big-ethical decision I've ever made.

We are so so very excited to welcome the newest member of the SLP family, Crystal Odelle and their collection MYTH FEST, selected from our inaugural 2026 multigenre submissions period! MYTH FEST will be published in February 2028, and WE CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO READ IT! Welcome, Crystal!!!

Action is a love letter to the music, film, people, and places that have shaped Rivka Clifton's transition. A synthesizer’s knobs emulate the modulation of pleasure within a changing body. A text from a childhood friend ghosts the sadness existing within the joy of becoming oneself.

The film Barbie triangulates how we experience others and how they experience us. Meditating on both the individual nature of transitioning & how it reverberates through a larger community, these essays pay loving homage to the shifting memorials of all bodies moving through time’s one-way terminal.

As the novel/novella reading period draws toward its close on Sept 1, a heads up that we will not be able to process any fee waiver requests after close of business today (~5pm CT) so if that was on your to-do list, make sure you DO IT!!!

We just began the final week of our novel/novella submissions period, so if you've got a manuscript you want to get in front of our eyes, you've got until 11:59pm CT next Tuesday Sept 1 to do so... splitlippress.submittable.com/submit

I am so excited for this! @ariel-chu.com’s a first rate talent and has a long, bright writing career ahead of her. Her manuscript blew me over with its exquisite imagery, pitch-perfect voices, and sensitive, insightful portrayals of queer Taiwanese American women pushing back against social scripts.

Yes, this position is fully remote. Yes, we are open to international applicants. The time commitment is ~2hrs/week during the reading period. 25% of the submission fee proceeds are split equally among all readers, who also receive a copy of the team's chosen book upon publication.

We'll be asking for a short bio statement, any relevant journal/reading experience, and any personal novel/novella writing experience (writers often make the best readers). Most of all, let us know why you are specifically interested in reading for Split/Lip Press!
