Steam's autumn sale is almost done and halloween is coming up so I'm going to go ahead and toss this out there; go buy kinki spiritual affairs bureau. It's amazing, just go in knowing as little as possible. Don't even watch the trailer if you can avoid it. store.steampowered.com/app/2956820/...

Not to be that asshole, but I'm going to be that asshole; I beat every boss in limbus' canto X part 3 on my first try. Even still, they were a little much. I feel like maybe not every non-ego clash should be hopeless every turn. At the very least the fights could use checkpoints.

Picked up a couple of games during steam's autumn sale, namely The Godbeast 1&2, Camelot 10000CE and Death of a Wish. Really looking forward to playing them!

I've been playing the original system shock and I have to say, I'm a little surprised at how well it holds up. The controls are a little janky, but once you get used to them the game plays great. I'm looking forward to playing the remake after and comparing the two.

Seeing the discourse around the pokemon tcg and scalpers, I have to say, as an outsider to tcgs in general, I find it kind of gross how the tcg community has seemingly let scalpers shape the language people use to talk about the hobby.

Imagine talking about anything else like that? There's a secondary collector's market around videogames too. I'm not a collector, but I happen to own a couple of games that a worth a fair bit. I can't imagine talking about opening up my copy of blood will tell and playing it as "cracking product"

Like, motherfucker it's a game! It's not a commodity to be hoarded so that it can appreciate in value! These things aren't investments! Stop talking about them as if they are just because the fucking scalpers are inhuman and can't see anything beyond the monetary value of a thing!

Every time I see people refer to card packs as "sealed product" or opening them as "cracking product" or "ripping product" I die on the inside. For fuck's sake, stop calling your cards "product"! It's so goddamn gross!

I was interested in jump space and saw they were having a free weekend. It seemed alright, right up until I saw they used voice cloning for the wip voice acting. Fuck everything about that. I would rather they use actual text to speech than anything gen AI.

In fact, I would rather they go full chaos wars and just have their friends and family do the voice acting until they got the script nailed down and got some actual voice actors, but fuck this "Oh, we only used the planet raping plagarism and psychosis machine for a placeholder!" bullshit

It's an action rpg where the entire point is that there's minimal guidance! The game fully expects you to explore, pay attention to the environment and read to get through its puzzles. It's one of the few games I've played where I've written notes as I played it and it rules!

Holy shit, going through tengoku feels so much better now that its populated by dev bots. There are actually enemies wearing something other than night raider and using weapons other than the KAMAS!

Let It Die's offline mode is out and I'm so fucking happy! Now I don't have to qualify it with "It's a good game but-" no, fuck that, now it's just a game, and it's good and people should play it and listen to it's amazing sound track

Dead by daylight has been going downhill for a long time now but holy shit, this new chapter is pathetic. Survivors get a perk that lets them do gens faster makes them regress slower. Meanwhile the new killer is so ass that you have to actively fight against their power to get it to do anything.

With all the hype I've been seeing around mortal shell 2 I figured fuck it, let me try the first game. I got it off a bundle but never really put time into it. Holy shit, mortal shell is awful. Just, fucking terrible. How the fuck that game got a sequel is beyond me.

I've been playing through god of war ragnarok and its such a frustrating game. The game is gorgeous, the story is fun and it has a serviceable combat system that's dragged down by some of the worst enemy/encounter design I've seen in a while.

On its own that's not the worst, but it becomes a problem when the camera is lodged firmly up the player character's ass, so they can't actually keep an eye on all of the enemies around them. It also doesn't help that they start throwing more enemies in arenas the size of a shoebox.

I don't think the devs actually know how to make enemies that are both fun to fight and challenging, all they know how to do is throw more enemies at the player, because they, rightly, understand that things get harder when they have to divide their attention.

You know, with evercold making reaper the poster child of FF14 for a bit, I want to point out that it's really funny how reaper and dark knight both look really edgy, but they're mostly fine. Meanwhile the most evil class in the game is the unassuming monk, by a mile. Nothing else comes close.

Watched FF14's live letter today and it was a mixed bag. The new tank looks cool, but I was hoping we'd see some more of the existing evolved jobs. While I'm sure the raids will be fun mechanically, I'm not looking forward to both the 8-man and 24 man raids being crossovers.

The action replacements also seem cool, although again, I wish we'd seen more and maybe gotten some details about how we'd get them. The whole "You can do zones in any order" thing seems like a questionable decision to me since it means the story's going to spin its wheels for a good while.

I really wish they gave a date for the job actions live letter. The job actions trailer they'd put out along with the media event where people got to play the jobs was always my favorite part of the pre-expansion hype, but I'm not sure we're going to get one.

An indie game I was looking forward to came out today. I check the steam page what do I see? An AI disclosure. The dev used gen AI for the writing and translation. Cool, well, if the dev doesn't care about their writing, why should I care about their game?

I have been giving Guild Wars 2 its billionth attempt and it's been fighting me at every turn. I think GW2 is the dead by daylight of MMOs, at least in the sense that it has a ton of problems that anyone with fresh eyes can see, but its existing playerbase is totally blind to them

I brought this issue up in their forums and the response I got was that storyline disconnects are a known problem with no known solution. I was then linked to a thread from 4 years ago where people were discussing that exact issue and was told to try any of the solutions people put up there.

There's no universe in which this should be acceptable for a major MMO and yet here we are, and the playerbase that's there still talk it up like it's a great game when it's barely functional.

To give an example, between today and yesterday I redid a story quest and its boss fight 5 times because every time I beat the boss and started the post fight dialogue, my game disconnected and booted me back to the character select screen.

Picked up a few games during the summer sale, namely; beyond sunset, automaton lung, dead finger dice and abyss veil. I played through the first level of beyond sunset and it's been great so far, although I was a little surprised to see just how many secrets I missed by the end.

Dead finger dice is interesting. I don't really care for poker, much less dice poker (I just don't care for casino games much in general), but I love the visuals and theming of it. It feels like playing through a particularly deranged episode of Kaiji. I'm here for that.

I haven't started automaton lung yet but I probably later today, really looking forward to it though. Abyss veil is an early access game so I won't be touching it till it's done, but if nothing else it looks like it's going to be really interesting when it's done.

I've been chipping away at stellar blade and I have to say, I find it really weird how a game that sold itself, in part, on how hot its protag is so completely sexless. I think a big part of it just comes down to Eve barely having a personality.

BHVR really just did a 13 hour stream to show off 10 seconds of "guy with machete". What a waste of time. What the fuck is jason's power even going to be? He's the definition of an M1 killer. Would have been nice if we got some gameplay after that slog of a stream but nah. #deadbydaylight

A question for those of you that know or are learning how to draw; are there any exercises you'd recommend for learning how to actually do something as basic as drawing a line, a curve and an ellipse? #art #drawing #learntodraw

Started playing stellar blade. My initial impressions are mixed. Narratively there's nothing going on. The characters are barely characters and there's no reason for me to care about anything. Maybe it just takes a while to get started but I'm like, three and half hours in a this point

What is happening here? What is the theme of this outfit? What am I supposed to be getting out of it? It feels like a million conflicting ideas were thrown into one character design and no one gave it a look and asked "Why is this here?"

I've got no problem with characters in sexy outfits, all I ask is that the outfits be well designed. Eve just kind of dresses like shit, which is unfortunate for a game where the character's sex appeal is supposed to be a selling point.

Just look at this thing. She's wearing a skin tight cat suit, which is fine enough as a base but it's got these sections that are made out of reflective green foil which make her look like a cheap action figure you'd buy at the dollar store.

But she's also got a neck tie for some reason and underneath it a lace ascot. She's also wearing a lace choker which holds up her sci-fi tech looking collar. On top of all of this she's also wearing fingerless work gloves, like she's going to go gardening or something

My hot take on the game though; I don't like eve's design. It's trying to be sexy but it's such a confused mess of visual elements that it just doesn't work. It doesn't feel cohesive.

Just watched the movie Resurrection. I'm going to have to sit and think on it for a bit but my overall first impressions are just goddamn, what a great movie.

Just finished playing through the citadel. Great game, I just wish it wasn't prone to crashing as often as it did. Still, bugs aside it's a really fun shooter

This site has its problems, but I love scrolling down my feed and seeing devs posting the sickest shit imaginable from the games they're working on. I mean look at this and tell me this isn't something to look forward to. This is the reason my steam wishlist has exploded over the last year
