sad to miss #ff2026 in person but given that the conference landed between some personal travel and being at a residency for most of october it didn't feel on the table for me

felt the itch for some falafel but trying to make do with what i have around the house. turned some leftover moong dal tadka into fritters, wrapped them in lavash with lettuce, pickles, and feta, and noshing away with satisfaction

i should have posted more during #teardown2026 but my installation went well, i met some cool folks, and i burned myself while trying to connect a recycled vape battery to an ultrasonic piezo driver board. a pretty positive experience ☺️

also, something striking is that for all the issues around document pipelines and getting in updates from source data - it seems like we haven't been thinking about applying records/info management/DAM principles consistently and it feels like a MASSIVE gap in professional training and knowledge

back to thinking about how archival context is underspecified from a computation and formal perspective. if i cared less about my sanity and life i'd consider going back for a research degree in this

lately: played a noise show in a generator organ/7 string violin duo with a friend, still working on my LoRa art project for a february group gallery show, writing monophonic ringtones for said project, getting rid of lots of old clothes, trying to read moby-dick by the end of the month

working with my girlfriend's godfather on as my domain expert on 3d printing for an art project that needs to be done by the end of the month has been absolutely amazing.

working on this live album is kind of exhausting because i'm always on the verge of it being a "catalog" of live works as they are with minimal editing (e.g. for length) and effectively full re-compositions

there are things i feel like i need to fully commit to but don't feel like doing/can't imagine doing while being fully employed (e.g. reading reza negarestani's cyclonopedia)

« To restore is not to conserve, again. There is no refuge in restoration. Conservation is always new. It comes from the place we stopped while we were on the run. » stefano harney and fred moten, _the undercommons: fugitive planning and black study_ (new york: minor compositions, 2013)

created my fingertips tracing / i don’t remember the language / translate them / look gather testify verify preserve there / either i could look for the kinds of stories but these murky waters become documentation or time travel / yet to the now and look the moment of intention: the stories

1) validity prevails, once again, despite the endless call to narrate 2) high desert scatters under your feet, large gusts erasing inbound footsteps 3) sixteen again: buckling parquet is cold comfort for when we hit the smooth parts
