A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

helenwebberley.comAre transgender sports bans really about protecting women? | Dr Helen WebberleyThe data says no. Those most hostile to women are most in favour of banning trans athletes.

Write-up of last nights game will be delayed, 7 youth soccer games and a trip to the Dear Chicago Experience Center have left me a bit behind this weekend. The indirect free kick deserves my full attention. #cf97

With last night's favorable results, the playoff picture has become significantly clearer. The Fire nearly doubled their chance of claiming the 4th place spot. 4th place finish: 69% ▲32% First Round Opponents: Charlotte 55% ▲14% Philadelphia 36% ▲2% #cf97

Fire win after the trappiest of trap games had them down early and nearly levelled late far too many times. But at least we got the wildest free kick in MLS history. #cf97 #ATLvCHI

It's only fitting if he makes his triumphant return at SeatGeek #cf97

In media availability Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter says that André Franco could be available "within 10 days." He then cautioned that he's "been wrong with this before" estimating player returns. #cf97 #VamosFire

Absolutely gut-wrenching to see this for Bürki; my son's a keeper and even at U11 they're running full speed to challenge for the ball. Every keeper parent is seeing their kid down right now

I've been saying it a while, but now someone smart is saying it

Commercial success, not a sporting success

With Fire's 1-0 loss, that's 5 league starts for Robert Lewandowski with 0 goals The last time that happened was 2010-2011, his first year at Borussia Dortmund. #cf97 #VamosFire

Just no ideas or creativity to crack the wall of New England. One offsides and one admittedly heroic save by Turner keep the Fire off the score sheet, with every other attempt not amounting to much despite the quantity. #cf97 #NEvCHI

Dominating pretty much anything you could think of for the first 15 minutes, and but for an (accurate) offsides call, would be up a goal. Gotta get one in tbe net proper and see this out. #cf97 #NEvCHI

Listening to the MiR pod, and @timhotze.com discussing Gregg's refereeing comments. I strongly feel the referee deliberately sided against Lewy after the early shithousing in front of Andre Blake. In real time the referee looked offended. I think that led to the easier cards as well. #cf97

I don't blame Lewandowski, it was good shithousing, and Blake was a participant too. Honestly the biggest offense to the ref was probably when he turned and tapped his imaginary watch.

The Fire are 1-3-2 (W-D-L) when Lewandowski has played a full 90 minutes, 4-3-4 when he's played >45 minutes, and 2-1-1 when played less or didn't feature at all. Statistically, every Lewy minute redeuces the Fire's PPG by 0.013, or 1.13 per 90. 1/2 #cf97

Caveats: this isn't really statistically significant, small samples, all that. Either way, whether it's him, the players around him, or the coaching (and the buck stops at the coach, or the sporting director. Oh wait...), this team isn't better for his addition. 2/2 #cf97

When someone like Gregg comes out and says it... I know as a fan I have to actively focus on my bias when talking about refs, but he's good and measured. This ref sucked, and I hope the broadcast picked up how the fans felt about it. #cd97 #CHIvPHI

Ok, some slightly extended thoughts. Cards were soft tonight. Can't help but wonder if the ref was retaliating for some early Lewy shithousing. The first two goals were sloppy defending in a crowded box, and the mistakes that led to them. 1/3 #cd97 #CHIvPHI

Honestly, I was checked out a bit by the third goal. Chalk it up to a midweek/school night game, or the Cold Times, or just the bummer mood in 210. Game felt winnable but tough before the sending off, but this wasn't NYCFC. 2/3 #cd97 #CHIvPHI

Gutman still unavailable for inexplicable reasons, and a midfield that hasn't seen enough minutes to be in form against this Union squad. New England is now a must-win game to maintain th home playoff priority and top 4 berth. 3/3 #cd97 #CHIvPHI

Well that was awful. More thoughts after I get home, school night and all that. I can't help but focus on the ref calls; will be interesting to review on replay. Recognized this was always going to be a tough game, but this.. Not like this #cd97 #CHIvPHI

Garbage second yellow, and honestly first one too, for Jack Elliott. This ref is pretty biased, none of the fouls have been too bad and the Union have actually had more. Hoping we can keep this secured. #cf97 #CHIvPHI

I'm excited to see Cavan Sullivan tonight but man, I'm a bit worried what this surging Philadelphia team will do to us. Not sure it would help us but it would be cool to see Turdean feature as the Fire's resident young guy against Cavan. #cf97 #CHIvPHI
