I've been dealing with a sore achilles but it's fine after I've been walking for a bit. I feel like I'm reenacting the scene from The Usual Suspects where my limp magically fades away as I walk down the street.

It’s crazy to think with 2027 just around the corner that it’s almost 2030 when 2020 was just a couple years ago.

Got some tickets to a game from my financial advisor. Mentioned this to my friends and they joked, "Here's some tickets we bought with your money!" And, like, they're not wrong.

I see Apple has released new HomePods and the HomeView. I bought HomePods for my spaces but find they often bug out and will no longer be seen in Home app or allow music to be streamed to them. Makes me reluctant to try these newer devices.

I suspect much of this can be blamed on rarely rebooting and memory leaks suffocating the device. Power almost never goes out where I am so a forced reboot is rare. I wish all devices would notice no one was home and update/reboot while gone.

Planning a trip around restaurants is stressful, trying to get reservations at hard-to-book places, but so satisfying when it works out.

Here's my light/dark toggle. Right next to my font-resizer setting, and my theme setting, and my print button, and my share buttons, and my...

Southwest's web site is appalling. Losing session at seat selection. Restart, select 2 passengers and resets to 1 passenger on next screen. I feel like I must be the only person with these issues because this would be a service nightmare.

"If you complain within two months of discovering the fault, the complaint will always be timely."

Wrote a couple sentences, using a semi-colon. Does a semi-colon feel right? Maybe an em-dash. Nah, a period might be best. Had a thought that it would be nice to ask an editor a quick question like this. Is this where AI would be helpful? I asked AI and it suggested a semi-colon. Okay then.

Feels more pop/marketable, like they're writing for the next GAP commercial. Still has some catchy tracks.

Personal accomplishment: got Starglass camo on 30 guns so I can start getting Absolute Zero. But have now lost the desire to get the next set. That was enough grinding. #warzone

I have a custom 404 page. If you go to /404, it's technically a 200, even though it says it's a 404. I could probably fix/change that but this amuses me.

Time for a new Mac. I downsized everything to a Mac mini but would like some portability back and an iPad isn't really hitting the spot. Looking at a MacBook and feeling like Apple does a poor job of differentiating their products.

Added next/previous post to the blog. I'm on the fence about it because the posts aren't a linear story. I feel like random posts or no posts might be more appropriate.

"I'll wait until it comes out on video to watch it." And then I proceed to never watch it when it comes out on video.

"comes out on video" is such a boomer/gen-x phrase. Like I'm picking up a tape from Blockbuster for my video cassette recorder.

I've been enjoying playing with scroll-based animations but implementations are finicky across browsers and I don't love that Firefox still has it behind a flag. It would be nice to be able to style element X that isn't a child of view-timeline.

When I cancelled my Adobe subscription, they said that I'd still have access to Adobe Fonts but it's not clear which fonts are only available via a subscription. (It says only 5500 of the 30k fonts would be available.)

Sending money to the IRS via online payment and really hoping this goes through smoothly. Nothing feels particularly clear.

As a lifelong Canadian, interacting with the US government always feels a little more arduous than necessary.

What're people using for a NAS these days? I'm thinking of going local media instead of relying on the cloud so much.

The problem with social media algorithms and April Fools jokes is that the jokes appear long after the day is over.

I appreciate that Sara tracked down this post as it helps provide some context on what's really interesting about this library. I can see the scenarios where it can be helpful—like infinite lists but ugh, I dislike infinite lists, too.

I dislike the "CSS zealots" line (I probably am one), and found it hard to really understand what's going on when the main conversation is within an X thread I cannot access for myself (deleted my account there years ago). But! This helps a lot: denodell.com/blog/youre-l...

Congrats, I guess, on building a layout engine that is demonstrably worse, feature-wise, than what we already have to solve some edge cases you've run into. You sure showed those CSS zealots a thing or two.

Managed to sleep in until 9:30am and was pleasantly surprised until I realized the clocks jumped ahead. I guess I didn't sleep in as much as I thought.

I'm down to owning just 4 domains and I'm tempted to drop it down to just one.

Renewing a .ms domain went from $45/yr to $80/yr. That's quite the jump in one year.

Enjoying some Octomore 10.1 on this fine afternoon, keeping me warm inside while it's cold outside.
