SNAP was founded on the principle that science does not exist in a silo. Science is a reflection of the human beings behind it: diverse and complex by nature. When our humanity remains hidden, some may forget it exists.

We thank the 65 members of Congress from both sides who have hosted conversations with #SNAPpers about the future of American science and STEM workforce development. We are deeply disappointed to discover vitriolic comments & racist remarks directed toward one trainee following their meeting.

Respect is essential for all.

Scientists deserve dignity, respect, & empowerment to advocate for meaningful change. Humanizing science is urgently needed and lies at the core of SNAP’s mission. The public deserves to know where their tax dollars go, and scientists deserve to share how our work advances the common good.

After some disturbing online commentary in response to our Congressional District Visits initiative we wanted to clarify our objectives as @snapcoalition.org. We advocate for policies that improve the American science & support #ECRs who often perform the bulk of the scientific work.

Across the country, we've mobilized over 200 volunteers and gathered over 4,500 stances from over 830 candidates! 🇺🇲 In Colorado, the Stances from over 65 state, local, and federal office candidates have given me hope for a bright future in my state!

Inspired by past efforts from other like-minded science policy organizations, the objective of Stance on Science at large is to provide voters with ✨clear✨ & 💕accessible💕 information on how candidates for political office will utilize and think about science and evidence in policymaking.

We all know that good policies in our communities are informed by evidence. But where is #science in the political discourse leading up to elections? This is where @snapcoalition.org saw a moment for movement, and where #StanceOnScience was born.
