We are three crones who have been swapping smut since we were maidens and therefore spend a lot of time yelling about romance books. Primarily managed by Holly. Blog at smutreport.com

We're a day late on the Smut Report podcast, but we still got it out! This month we buddy read Manners and Monster by Tilly Wallace and…it was not a hit.
Series Review: Curse of the Cyren Queen by Helen Scheuerer Ingrid really enjoyed this series—especially the way it didn't fall into common romantasy traps that she doesn't love
re Patterson doing romantasy, I read one of the romance line he did a while ago and it was…not good smutreport.com/2019/02/01/r...
It's TBR Challenge day! October's theme was "The Hunt." Here's what the Smut Report team read:
Halloween is really creeping up on me this year (my lawn spiders are still in my closet, let's not talk about costumes) but luckily I do have the archives to help me out, so here's a list of lists of spooky-season romances smutreport.com/2025/10/25/s...
We're talking the childhood crush trope on the blog today, which turned out to be much more contentious than we expected!
#romancelandia, recently came across this resource, which is an index of authors who write MM romance with links to buy directly from them. 🌈💜 One more tool to support the quest to buy fewer books from the zon. mmromancedirect.com
Review: Falling for a Villainous Vampire by Charlotte Stein This book was so earnest which was frankly pretty charming.
This week on Tumblereads, we're talking about some recent reads we didn't enjoy.
I would like to state, for the record, that this is not the meanest review we've ever published. I, for one, am still pretty proud of what I wrote about The Discovery of Witches, because it's been years and I'm still annoyed about that book.
Series Review: No Other Gods by Piper CJ This might be the meanest review Ingrid has ever written (the other Smut Reporters are so proud of her)

Ingrid did also review only the first book in the series, The Deer and the Dragon, when she was feeling a bit more optimistic about where it was headed smutreport.com/2026/06/22/r...
Review: A Substitute Wife for the Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath I found this romance deeply satisfying on several levels.
I neglected to mention this in my review (I meant to and then forgot), but this book also has exceptional dog content and would be an excellent addition to this list: smutreport.com/2026/08/15/s...
If you dig cozy, kind, low-conflict slice-of-life romances (with bonus paranormals), this one is very sweet, but not, like, in that way where sweet means no sex.
Getting My Goat, my story about how a middle aged software engineer finds out her landlord/neighbor is an ancient satyr. In response she starts sleeping with him, turns him into her submissive, and then falls in love with him (in that order). Pay what you want on Itch to celebrate! #FreeBooks
Review: A Good Puck by Rochelle Wolf Erin would probably have DNFed this one if it weren't so short, and she wrote a long ass review telling you exactly why.
This week on Tumblereads, we're just talking about 3 books we read recently and liked…and one that Holly was having some mixed feelings about.
Review: Avalon Tower by C.N. Crawford and Alex Rivers This book is what you get when you cross King Arthur with James Bond and also add fairies and magic school. It was a wild ride and Ingrid is HERE FOR IT. *Recommended Read!*

This week in My First Smut, author Rowan Thorn talks about entering the world of erotica via horror. (We are equal opportunity smut enthusiasts here!)
Review: When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley The romance is sweet, but what Erin really loved about this book was the found family coming together to support the MC when he really needed it.
Oh dear, this looks like the exact kind of historical romance that I either love or am utterly disappointed by
$0.99 ✦ Romancing the Earl by Heather Boyd A down-on-her-luck companion receives a letter from a childhood friend offering her a new job. But the letter was a drunken mistake. Marriage of convenience. Historical Romance (MF) amzn.to/3VXp4xf Bookshop bookshop.org/a/111397/978...
Fellow Smut Reporter Erin is a huge Annabeth Albert fan and did like this one, but notes that the characters felt really young. A great read as long as you're down for some New Adult Angst.

This week on Tumblereads, we're talking about follow through (and the lack thereof)
Some October releases we're looking forward to reading!
We talk about why we love these books (and other things we got up to last month) on ye olde blogge: smutreport.com/2026/10/01/s...
Here's what we got up to on the blog in September!
ICYMI: yesterday we posted a write-up of Rachel Reid's writing style, for anyone who hasn't read Heated Rivalry but is MM hockey curious. smutreport.com/2026/09/29/a...
Review: Baby Bump for the Mafia Boss by Evie Rose OTT Mafia Light Romance is ridiculous and fun.
This month's author spotlight is Rachel Reid. Hockey season is right around the corner, and if you haven't read her yet (but are thinking about some hockey reading this fall), here's what you should know about her books.
It's Book Club time, and this month we read The Paris Match by Kate Clayborn. There were fewer tears and more metaphors than expected.
If you're looking for more book people and artists to follow, @bookspotlight.bsky.social has curated some *great* starter packs
ICYMI, yesterday's review
Dueling Review: Daggerbound by T. Kingfisher This is less a review with two different opinions because Ingrid and Holly both thought this book was great, and more a review of two people talking about how amazing it is that Kingfisher makes books that are simultaneously cozy and horrifying.

Haven't read this one, but I have read another book in this sex planet series, and it was utterly bonkers.
