took a trip out the country for the first time to celebrate a big birthday. had a blast but I’m damn happy to be home. note to future self: don’t go on an all time rager the day before you have a ~12 hour travel day.

Over the last many many years my health didn’t allow me to do… well, much of anything.. tonight I not only got out the house but did it solo and checked off a bucket list concert at the same time. I won’t quite recognize myself of late.. in a good way.

I am so horribly dismayed and frightened and outright angry by what is happening in this country. I see no leadership from the people we’ve elected as they watch this happen on their watch. And I feel so damn helpless in it all. What a god damned nightmare.

Incredibly timely quote I came across in my reading.. “Remember how long you’ve been putting this off, how many extensions the gods gave you, and you didn’t use them.” (cont..)

“At some point you have to recognize what world it is that you belong to; what power rules it and from what source you spring; that there is a limit to the time assigned you, and if you don’t use it to free yourself it will be gone and will never return.” Marcus Aurelius

spent half the day at the doc and all in all it went super well.. but all it did is make me want to push harder. New Me isn’t quite where I want him to be, yet.. but he’s getting there.

Pulled in to get gas today. Standing there facing the pump when I noticed the big pickup in front of me had a deer decal with the words “buck off!” next to it. I also noticed I was wearing my rainbow colored “be kind” t-shirt.

Then I saw a guy that looked like the stereotypical person to drive such a truck, so I squared up facing his direction. He looks at me. Looks down. Looks at me. I smile. He grimaces and gets in his truck. It made me smile.

hadn’t hit the treadmill - for numerous reasons - in maybe 3 weeks. made sure I hit the damn thing today. only had time to get in 10 mins, but it’s a start. back to that grind.

so I clicked the “go live” button on Twitch and YouTube last night for the first time in many months. so that was something.

been ~6 years since my health allowed me to make a Brewers game. today was momentous. what a joy to be back at the field and with such great friends.

went to Birch in Milwaukee for dinner last night and hands down had the best meal of my life. every piece of the tasting menu was out of this world.

bought this garden bed 4 years ago when I bought my house but my health wasn’t at a place where I could use it. with a lot of help I managed to get it setup and planted this weekend! now we wait and see if I actually grow anything. 🤣

aaaand we’re now at 2 straight weeks sick while the weather outside is gooooorgeous. irritating. but still powering through today and setting up my first garden. how long until I kill everything? 🤣

it’s perfectly ok to make plans and be prepared for what’s to come, but don’t live in the future or the past. all we have is today, all we can truly experience is right now. let tomorrow come when it comes, let yesterday fade away. doubts and regrets cloud your vision and sap your happiness.

If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼

There’s a whole bunch of people suddenly ok with calling someone by their chosen name vs their given name. Interesting.

Do not ever accept a call like this. Ever. If someone is calling you from a place you do business, tell them you’re hanging up and calling them back at their published number. Take no risks. These people do this for a living. You don’t. They will fool you. Stay safe out there.

You receive a call on your phone. The caller says they're from your bank and they're calling about a suspected fraudulent payment. "Oh yeah," you think. Obvious scam, right? The caller says "I'll send you an in-app notification to prove I'm calling from your bank." 🧵 1/4

started the week excited for a 4 day week and hanging with friends Friday. Monday night had severe pain in 2 areas. Tuesday the pain changed to severe discomfort. Wednesday Thing 1 is better, Thing 2 is worse. Thursday Thing 2 worse yet. Today Thing 2 is better.. and now I have Thing 3. 🤦🏻‍♂️

it me.. visited a friend, didn’t have an allergic reaction to his dog, and now I’m maybe possibly perhaps considering a dog.. 😳

"If you can't find time on my calendar to meet it's because I'm too god damned busy and you sure as hell shouldn't be scheduling over lunchtime when I might possibly have a few fucking minutes to myself."   I didn’t send this Teams message.. but god damn did I want to.

why do I drive nearly an hour to see my dentist? yesterday i go In for a check up and the receptionist says, “you’re half the person you used to be!” I laugh it off but say it’s close. when the hygienist comes out the receptionist says, “he’s half the person he used to be!” and she comments.

then walking back to the room another 2 people comment, “wow you look great!” then we spoke about my journey for 10 minutes. do any of these people actually even remember me? I have no idea. but either way it was a pretty remarkable NSV (non-scale victory). being seen is pretty powerful.

slowly beginning to start up the continued writing of my D&D campaign feel like a failure because we’ve been on hiatus for soooo long, but starting to get reinvigorated in the process, and the story!

He wore the cheesehead hat in WI. Spent $20 million. Paid people to sign petitions. Paid people to canvas. Did million dollar giveaways. A rally. TV interviews. But I guess people in Wisconsin didn’t appreciate an oligarch trying to buy their civil liberties.

quick summary of the week: need to call it a W even if there were lots of walls that I ran into. the fact I was able to be there TO run into the walls is a huge success. and don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of walking around walls, too! the test had ups and downs.. but it’s a W for New Me. 💜

today was long and painful and exhausting but also very enlightening. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the next steps in my life and career and while sitting in a completely unrelated presentation it hit me like a ton of bricks: you know what’s in your heart - now make it happen.

today was both a W and less than a W (I won’t call it an L) made the trip to Vegas. even got the accessibility support I needed even tho I was ashamed. went out exploring sites in my own - Old Me would NEVER. but.. I bailed in the show I have a ticket for tonight. I’m just SORE and need rest.

big, big challenges coming for New Me staring early tomorrow morning. more excited than anxious which is.. new.

it’s a bit disappointing because so much of today was a success but in the end I am at peace with this decision. so, I ordered room service and am going to draw a bath. yes, a bath. I haven’t had a bath in 40 years but they gave me a tub and damn it I’m gonna use it!

put together a presentation for work peeps that I delivered with a peer on Wednesday. we spoke about personal identity and perspective on things happening around us. super proud of the work and the presentation and if people take away from it 1/10th what I got creating it, I’m damn happy.

Age yourself with a movie you saw in the theater. (it wasn’t the first one I saw. and I’m not sharing the real answer to give away my personal data. but to each their own)

just had a loud bang in my house. can’t find anything that fell. heat, water, lights all still working. no water or smoke in the basement or elsewhere. I’m a little perplexed and slightly worried. 😳

I’ve loved my Apple Watch most of the time I’ve had one since Series 1, but asking for my long, complicated password almost daily is the end for me. So damn stupid.
