THE LEVERAGE is a novel built partly from the documented record, and the seam between the two is meant to be visible. The history in it is real. Where a real person speaks, the words are theirs. Everything load-bearing is logged, with its source, at theleveragebook.net/register

theleveragebook.netThe Leverage — Source RegisterThe documented record behind The Leverage: events, dates, words, and primary sources — with reported, transposed, and invented material flagged as such.

I kind of think that the current generation of F1 cars have not been adequately tested in wet conditions.

I just picked all the apples from our trees before the nor'easter picks them for me. I guess I will make pie.

THE LEVERAGE is a speculative political thriller about the quietest institution in American politics — from Hoover's files to Epstein's cameras, and the operator running today's version from inside the government. Research and excerpts on my Substack: read.theleveragebook.net?r=8js2rj&utm...

"Mr. Trump announced in December that he expected two of the ships to be constructed over the next two and a half years." Tell me you know nothing about shipbuilding. It take 6 years to build an Arleigh Burke and they've already built about 75 of them. Yay BIW. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/05/u...

nytimes.comCost of Trump’s Namesake Warships Likely to Rise by 50 Percent or MorePresident Trump’s goal of building a “golden fleet” of 15 battleships could cost $275 billion, according to a government estimate.

I'm not sure why everyone is all bent out of shape about Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy and no one is saying anything about Zendaya as Athena. Helen of Troy and Athena are half sisters with unusual birth stories (Zeus is the father of both). Zeus clearly does not father white children.

What I really don’t get reading Thomas and Gorsuch dissent is how dual citizenship is permitted (like 4 of 5 of Trump's children and two of his three spouses)..

How the fuck was the 14th amendment a 5-4 vote? Time to read the dissents. Also, as a Maine resident, fuck Susan Collins.

Warsh is really truly fucked. Why does ANYONE accept a job in this administration? The really boggling one is Markwayne Mullin who gave a up a super safe senate seat that he could hold for 30 years for a job that he'll likely get fired from in 18 months.

In other news, some of the blondes on Fox News are not real blondes.

Imagine being in the control room at your grownup TV job the first time you realize that television is created by people making choices, and doesn’t just happen organically.

A lot of Christians in Texas are now going to have to decide if being Christian is more important than being Republicans. This will be interesting. The debates will be insane.

JD Vance cites Tina Peters as an example of someone who's receive a payout from Trump's new taxpayer-funded J6 slush fund

The 25th amendment commission is a clever way to get around the idea that the cabinet won't try and remove him. But either way, to make it stick, the 25th amendment needs 67% of both the house and the senate to confirm it. Otherwise the president just writes a letter and he is back in office.

You need 292 votes in the house, and 67 votes in the senate, to make the removal permanent. If you have that many votes, then just impeach him. 25th amendment is HARDER than impeachment. The 25th amendment is a waste of our time and energy.

Watching Ollie North sitting on TV talking about how the Iranians should not have missiles after Ollie North sold the Iranians missiles for years... I look forward to the return of irony.

The edge cases here are difficult. Let's say the prompt given to AI is "make a naked image of a sexual nature of an 18 year old woman who has underdeveloped secondary sexual characteristics". Is that child porn? It's creation overtly defines it as not. But it is likely indistinguishable from porn

Ohio Capital Journal@ohiocapitaljournal.com

Right now, child pornography created with AI falls outside the bounds of Ohio law, but two Republican lawmakers are trying to change that. No one opposes the idea, so why is still sitting in committee nearly a year after it was introduced? ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/03/31/t...

If the Iranian military has the opportunity to wipe out a 3,500 person MEU at the cost of losing 50,000 of their own soldiers, they would do it in a hot second. Winning a ground war against an enemy who is willing to take significant casualties is exactly the recipe for quagmire.

It is really ironic that bombing the Isfahan Mountain complex last year has made it monumentally more difficult for a special operations team to go into Iran and capture their Uranium now.

It used to be in a secure, but accessible facility (entrances and stuff) Now it's buried under thousands of tons of rubble. It will take months to excavate it. A security perimeter that whole time. Massive earth moving machines. No longer a surgical strike. Now it's a massive excavation project.

A bunch of ICE agents who are getting paid while standing around the airport looking at long lines and watching TSA agents work, but not get paid, is pretty much the Trump presidency in a nutshell. The TSA people must be thrilled about all this.
