Why is Psych Science doing a bunch of special issues? We want to get more submissions on these topics! Authors may not submit papers on these topics because they don’t see many examples in our journal. Hopefully special issues can help! www.psychologicalscience.org/publications...

A psychology journal has retracted a seminal 2002 paper on deadlines and procrastination coauthored by behavioral scientist Dan Ariely of Duke University just days after a team of sleuths published analyses of the original study data, finding it had been tampered with.

Psych Science (the journal) is broader than you might think! Do you do descriptive research? Or research w/ underrepresented populations or cultural frameworks? Or research on AI/LLMs for psych? Or research testing lab findings in the real world? We have a special issue for that!

Send your best work to Psychological Science! Four special issue calls: 1. Descriptive Research in Psychological Science www.psychologicalscience.org/publications... 2. Advancing Psychological Science Using Large Language Models www.psychologicalscience.org/publications...

It’s amazing what Brian and OSF have done for science. I can imagine how hard the folks at COS must’ve worked to avoid this outcome. I’m extremely grateful to them for creating the reality we live in now. The fact that we’ll miss these services so acutely is a testament to how much they shaped us.

Brian Nosek@briannosek.bsky.social

Over the next several months, we will phase out some popular OSF features. These changes do not affect current public content, which remains safe and accessible. We have prepared support material to help users adapt. I am very sorry for the disruption to your work. Please read this post for details.

Beth continues to kick ass. So glad this kind of permanent academic position exists in metascience, and so glad @bethclarke.bsky.social is paving the way. Hopefully there will be lots more departments adding metasciencey people like her in the years to come! A pretty smart move if you ask me.

Beth Clarke@bethclarke.bsky.social

Very excited to announce that I’ll be joining @zpid.bsky.social in Trier, Germany as a tenure-track Jun.-Prof. in Psychological Metascience in November! 🤸🏻‍♀️✨

Psychology researchers: Got questions about what kinds of submissions we’re looking for at Psych Science (the journal)? (Short answer: empirical research in any area of psychology!) If you’re at #APS26BCN, stop by the APS booth in the exhibit hall between 4-5pm today to chat with me!

At #wcri2026, @brandonstell.bsky.social makes the point that the “happy face” version of PubPeer didn’t really take off, but that makes sense bc authors of journal articles already hype their work to the max, so there’s often only one direction post publication comments can go, realistically (down).

[Taking a tiny break from Iran-war-induced social media avoidance.] Seeing smart people with a platform express clear & well-articulated indignation is surprisingly reassuring. Thank you to those in the US who keep fighting for humanity. [If it’s ok I’ll go back to hiding now.]

Has transparency improved in clinical psychology? New cross sectional study from us (Bianca Kotoulas, Justine Blackwell & me). Adoption of transparent research practices has increased between 2012, 2018, & 2024, but aside from coi and funding disclosures, they remain uncommon osf.io/preprints/ps...

I’m impressed. A nice example of how to handle this with transparency and honesty. Carroll makes a strong case for accountability. This thread makes clear that it’s reasonable to expect some explanation and soul-searching from those who were connected with Epstein.

Sean Carroll@seanmcarroll.bsky.social

Hey, my name is in the Epstein files! I've told the story before, but should probably re-up. TLDR: never met the guy, never took (or asked for) any money from him, never visited the island. I was invited to the island, and said no. It's not that hard to just say no.

Why are many academics still ok signing with Brockman (or his agency)? Many are oblivious to the Brockman-Epstein link (despite the 2019 articles above). It’s still not widely known. So let’s change that. If you or someone you know is planning a popular book, don’t go with the Brockman agency.

Just out—a piece I wrote a piece for the APS Observer (@psychscience.bsky.social) in which I share recommendations and resources for running a research lab at a small, liberal arts college. I hope it helps others in the same boat! www.psychologicalscience.org/publications...

Yep. This angle shows that what Bovino said — and what Trump, Miller, and DHS wrote —are lies. They’ve again murdered someone trying to help neighbors, and are again slandering that person. Not to cover anything up, but to project their power and impunity. To suppress dissent, and to set an example.

Nicole Foy@nicolefoy.bsky.social

Greg Bovino of Border Patrol begins press conference just now reading the previous DHS statement describing (among other things) Alex Pretti approaching agents in a way that is directly contradicted by footage in this video www.youtube.com/live/_zA-3M-...

I don’t think it’s a complete coincidence that, yesterday, so many of us around the world were in awe of what Minneapolis was doing, and, today, the government brutally murdered one of those courageous people, just to show us they could. They think they’ll scare us into submission. They’re wrong.

That’s “below-zero temperatures” in Fahrenheit. -22 in degrees Celsius. Minneapolis, you’re amazing.

NBC News@nbcnews.com

Thousands of people have been gathering outside the U.S. Bank Stadium amid subzero temperatures for a march against the federal government’s immigration crackdown.

Following the news from Iran and Minnesota. It shouldn’t require so much courage just to live. I’m in awe of the people fighting to protect each other and their communities.

Sydney, and Australia, are still grieving the attack on our Jewish community. Since moving to Australia, one of my favorite things about it is that I feel so safe here. It’s devastating to know that that feeling has been taken away for our Jewish friends and neighbors. I’m so sorry.

We all need something uplifting right now, especially in Sydney. Here is “an absolute bloody legend” (according to his owner, but I agree):

Preparing this talk gave me an opportunity to reflect on what lessons I've learned from psychology's replication crisis and credibility revolution, and what advice I would have for other fields. We've come a long way! Video: youtu.be/_vb1CNwC3CM?... Slides : osf.io/cuj62/files/...
