Boosting this ask by my Spelman friend and fellow writer, who is in a true moment of need and will repay the world many times over with her humanitarian work and her art. I’m donating right now!

I’ve made it this far without watching The Good Place but unfortunately I do know how season 1 ends. Is it still worth it? (I’m about three episodes in and so far find it somewhat tedious but have heard many good things)

I’ve been doing podcast interviews and the last question is always “Are you working on anything new?” Welp, I’m doing this podcast on my lunch break from my day job instead of eating lunch because it’s the only kid-free, work-free time I have all day, does it seem like I’m working on anything new 😩

One should not fret too much about being reviewed, of course, but I do think it’s ok to celebrate the triumph of being closely read and understood. I’m super tickled 🥰

What a thoughtful, thorough, beautiful review!! Thank you so much to Elisabeth of @whoevenreads.bsky.social 🥰🥰

It’s Friday! Let the first thing you read this weekend be our review of The Great Wherever by @shanders.bsky.social! This book has everything: ghosts, humor, hot goss, the endurance of Black culture and history down the ancestral line, etc. etc. 📚💙 www.whoevenreads.com/better-than-...

Not naming names, but someone who lives in the same house as me just complained that he accidentally overheard a spoiler for the end of the book I finished writing two years ago, numerous finished copies of which have been stacked all around said house for more than seven months now 🙃

One thing you can set your watch to as a working mom is that if anyone ever bothers to say “Hey, are you doing ok? You seem like you have too much on your plate” it is GUARANTEED it’s because they need you to be more available to *them*

50 pages left in @shanders.bsky.social The Great Wherever and I have to be up in 5 hours…..so of course I’m going to stay up and finish it. Beautifully haunting story about family, legacy, and what draws the lost back.

Loved Amy’s smart, thoughtful questions! And you can get the book here:

"Have you ever read a book that felt like a warm, drowsy summer afternoon... A part of you transported back to your own childhood and the enrapture of an immersive story, and another part vaguely aware that you need to get dinner started, but you cannot put the book down?" medium.com/p/2fb4ff6b5a42

Since posting this 16 hours ago, I’ve gotten four more, including one by a scammer impersonating one of the same people who supposedly emailed me yesterday, but from a different address

If I had to pick the one thing that has changed most in my life since publishing my debut novel a week ago, it is that the number of AI-generated scam emails I receive on a daily basis, the ones that stroke my ego and then coyly ask me for money, has quite literally octupled

An INCREDIBLY thorough and thoughtful review!!

"For a book about legacies and the afterlife, Shannon Sanders’ debut novel, The Great Wherever, is surprisingly and charmingly life-affirming." Read more: www.bookpage.com/reviews/grea... @shanders.bsky.social
