FRPG Player Tip: Even the most serious games have room for humor and in-character joking, but respect the tone the GM sets for the campaign so you don’t push the humor too far. Being told that the red dragon boss is named “Yrtraazon” versus “Biff” should give you a sense of where the bar’s been set.

Thank you @robindlaws.bsky.social for "At the GM's discretion" segment on today's Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff podcast. When I started writing my last game, I labeled a lot of rules as "optional", before I realized that—they're ALL optional! It's 2026, I don't need to point out that.

I feel like we should amend our comments about quotes such as this. It's not just "... with any other president", it's more accurate to say "with any other US population." It's not Trump that's unique in things being off the rails, it's the public's acceptance of Trump .
