Along the route of the Lighthouse Century, I came across a Chopper Show in Cayucos - hundreds of old-school motorcycles, elongated and gleaming with chrome, on full display. Couldn’t help myself, and stopped riding long enough to explore. … #choppers #motorcycles #photography

Machines Ate My Hike! It's been tough to watch splitters and chippers lay waste to my favorite eucalyptus grove over the past few weeks thanks to the "Fuel Reduction Project," even though I get the reasons why. I've been documenting the destruction in a photo essay at framespotting.substack.com

It’s been a couple of months now, and even though there are more to share, I’m ready to be done with Scotland images for a while. Thanks for tagging along! Skies have been so lovely from our Hillside perch lately, so my after-work hikes have been vibrant. #photography

We stayed our last night in Glasgow and took the train over to Fringe Festival. How big is it? “In 2025, it ran for 25 days, selling more than 2.6 million tickets, and featured 53,942 performances of 3,893 shows across 301 venues (Wikipedia).” Spent most of the with street performers. #photography

Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland. A light rain was developing into something heavier, but we set out amongst the sheep and the stone fences to see what we could see. #scotland #aerials #photography

Our Scotland travelogue would not be complete without a roundup of the castles we either visited or stumbled upon in our travels. #scotland #castles #photography

A few miles from our bunk in Fort William, we set out on a hike to Steall Falls. A few miles of clambering through dense valleys packed with time-carved sandstone, fern grottoes, root patterns and micro wildflowers, then it all opened into a great meadow with a view to the larger falls.

Amazed to discover that the still-functioning train station at Boat of Garten was also home to the remains of many old trains cars, cranes, tracks and gear. Perfect opportunity for some aerial shots. I only wish I could fly back in time and see this place teeming with passengers from the 1920s.

Ruins of the old diatomaceous earth plant on Skye. Millie pointed to a spot on the map, the ruins of an old diatomaceous earth plant. Turned out to be one of the most memorable highlights of the trip for me. #photography #scotland

Station interiors at Glasgow and Edinburgh - line and shadow, shadow and light, endless permutations. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Family adventures - Hiking Rothiemurchus and Loch an Eilean. Off of Skye now, and on the Eastern side of Scotland. A mellow day with many miles, if that makes any sense. Lovely out. #photography #hikingadventures #scotland #forests

One way to get out of the relentless Scottish rain - tour a distillery! This one was at the foot of Ben Nevis, Scotland's tallest mountain. A few tons of fresh barley rolled up as we assembled, and dumped its hopper onto a conveyor. #scotland #whisky #distilleries

We had heard about a boggy marsh near Storey Point, but blew past it on the road in the sputtering rain. "Do I have to turn this car around?" Turned out that I did. Quick soggy hike, and an early taste of just how wet (but also how sumptuous) this trip would be. ... #Scotland #wetlands #photography

A saucerful of secrets ... a handful of keepers from the Lighthouse Century last weekend. I had missed last year due to being in recovery, and the year before with a broken knee, so it felt amazing to be on the course again. 75 miles! ... #cycling #photography

University of Glasgow stands above the city almost like a cathedral (and is often mistaken for one, apparently). I was fascinated by its Harry Potter architecture through the 8mm rectilinear. #scotland #photograpyy
