Last night, I had an LLM remove more code than it added when asked to make a change. I’m choosing to believe this is progress.

As an open-source maintainer, I'm not very bothered (yet) with PRs containing LLM-generated code. It's the ones with LLM-generated *descriptions* that bother me.

Upgrading to macOS 27 feels like a relief, especially the ability to tone down all that liquid glass nonsense. I’m glad Apple backtracked on this one.

Day 1 of training for the Munich Marathon 🏃🏻 Last year was so much fun that I decided to sign up this year too. Next 3 months are going to be tiring but good! #runsky

Hey Bluesky, @atprotoalternatives.com is live on @uneed.best today and I'd love for your support. And If you find it helpful, an upvote would mean a lot. Thank you! 🦋 #atproto #buildinpublic

Is there a German word for facing an avalanche of Slack notifications after two weeks of vacation? If not, there should be.

A non-technical acquaintance is looking to replace their Windows OS with something based on Linux. What’s the 2026 recommendation?

Installed the Instagram app on my phone after a really long break and I don’t think I’ve seen a worse mess of a thing lately. Almost instantly removed.

Interesting how it’s ok to merge thousands of lines of unreviewed AI-generated code, but if you include a tiny little “feat:” in your commit message, that’s where the line gets drawn.

Potentially anecdotal, but migrating my static sites away from Netlify to a self-hosted Caddy instance has made them noticeably snappier.

Fun Saturday evening project: Moved @atprotoalternatives.com from Bunny CDN to an Ubuntu VPS running Caddy. Deployment used to be a hassle earlier with a clunky deployment script and API keys. Now deployment is just rsync - simple, fast, and glorious.

GitLab could really own the “reliable alternative” story during GitHub’s (multiple) outages. Instead, their H1 reads “Finally, AI for the entire software lifecycle”. 🫢

A few weeks into writing Go: it's a workhorse that lets you get things done *fast*, but boy those err checks are everywhere. 😅

Experimenting with Go lately and its static binary story (especially embedding files in the binary at build time) feels like magic, especially after working with Python.

GitHub seems to be having a rough day online. The internet water coolers are tearing in to them (for valid reasons).

Developers, what’s your preferred tool for writing your CVs? Google Docs, LaTeX, or something else? #buildinpublic

tfw you're building something and add a library (that you maintain) as a dependency but still need to check its README to recall how it works.

Claude Code API credits ran out so I've been trying out Mistral's Vibe CLI and it's not bad at all! It struggles a bit with UI tasks but seems to handle rote coding tasks just fine.

I'd forgotten how fun web dev could be until I started building @txtcv.com with a pure server-side setup, using *only* Django and Htmx. Minimal JS build steps, no framework fatigue, just shipping and enjoying the process.

My new Garmin Forerunner 165 arrived today! 🎉 After logging almost 3000km of runs, the Forerunner 55 was starting to show signs of age. Excited to take the 165 for a spin tomorrow!

Open-source maintainers: how do you handle PRs containing code that's obviously written by an LLM? Reviewing thousands of lines of code is very tedious, and I’m not entirely clear on the licensing implications of merging in LLM-generated code. How do you approach this?

Claude Code building features in my side-project while I do chores around the house feels surreal. I didn't sign up for this, but I'm here for it, I think.
