Just found out that my name is on the "editorial masthead" of a journal (not a predatory one) that I am ...not on the editorial board of. I am even listed as a section editor, though I have no editorial responsibility at this journal. Interesting...

Dinner tonight: pizza beans with Kale. Used California Corona beans from Rancho Gordon club, which are giant white beans and perfect for this. Love burning the cheese topping a little to give it a little more texture and flavor.

I also look at three articles and how they impact nonprofits: 1) LGBT older adults & what it's like to live in older housing schemes. 2) The importance of an LGBTQ*-positive work environment. 3) Queercrip joy and the ways that nonprofits can build transgender joy (including the Trans Day of Snack!).

Sy has trouble reading cursive writing but also thinks it's called cursed writing. So today I asked him to read something and he yelled: I can't read that! It's cursed!

This is so stupid. Like as someone who has trained in multiple combat sports over the years... This is an amazing photo op for the UFC that does nothing for the FBI. In combat sports we always have people who join to feel "more manly" blah blah & that is why Patel is so attracted to this.

Karim Zidan@karimzidan.com

The FBI plans to have UFC fighters train its federal agents. Many of those fighters are affiliated to Trump or to FBI director Kash Patel. Others are repped by MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz, a former FBI informant with ties to the Trump admin. My latest: www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/o...

Also combat sports & martial arts being used by and attracted to fascist regimes is not new. The Gracie family, who basically created BJJ, are a great example of this. There is also a growth over the past five years of anti-fascist combat sports, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community.

One of my favorite genres of emails I get in academica is "We are honored to provide you with the opportunity to do more work for no additional pay." Not just we are asking but I should feel honored by the ask...

Went to a friend's house for dinner so I whipped up a Basque cheesecake for dessert. Used the recipe from Bon Appetite and it was really yummy but always hard to judge when it is done.

Bolognese sauce done. I forgot to get a picture until everyone had their dinner of the pasta and the sauce together but it was yummy. The sauce cooked for five hours so it got nice and rich. Nothing like having the house smell like sauce all day.

Pasta made for dinner tonight. It's a little bit of a whole wheat pasta so about 1/3 whole wheat flour and 2/3 bread flour. It goes really nicely with the Bolognese sauce I am whipping up.

While this may be perceived as just another report, it is being used by the DOJ to build a framework when attacking clinics that provide gender affirming care. We already see this with the agreements the DOJ came to with NYU and UPMC to stop gender affirming care & create a detransition center.

Importantly, none of the people who were a part of writing this report are qualified to discuss gender affirming care. The list of authors includes, writers, lawyers, and policy analysts. There are two doctors, but only one is qualified to talk about hormone therapy.

Furthermore, this report uses the term "sex-rejecting procedures", which is the term that Kennedy has used instead of gender affirming care. Bringing in this term is a way to signal a negative perspective on gender affirming care.

That's their complaint, yes. They have a problem with Mamdani working with the JCRC-NY and synagogues that they consider Zionist. The thing is, you can't establish a program for defending "Jews, but not the Zionist ones." There's no other way for him to have done this.

We had a banana going bad so we made banana chocolate chip cookies. My son helped mix and scoop the cookies. He also learned that you can use a cup or a cookie cutter to make the cookies a little more round and uniform.

Although it feels like I am shouting into the void about this sometimes, I want to share some further thoughts on the “Zionism is Racism” motion which the Green Party is due to debate in the next 16 hours. Just to address various points which I think people in general should know. A thread:

I have a new stove which has a lock button for the stove and oven. I put it on lock and my 1.5yo figured out how to unlock within a minute. Things are going great this morning.

In this post, she talks about what parents CAN do and what doesn't work. bsky.app/profile/nbed...

I’m seeing a lot of posts about talking to your sons in light of the Cornell article. And yes. Talk to your sons. Here are some things you should say, based on anti-violence research about what they need to hear:

Qual researchers: What do you use for coding? I am looking for a program that I can just buy outright and not need a yearly subscription for. These yearly subscriptions are annoying AF.

My friends spent the weekend over so breakfast this morning was Shakshukah! Served over some challah toast. Great way to start a rainy sunday.

6-strand challah for an indoor shabbat/erev sukkot. Can't eat outside tonight and we weren't able to get our sukkah up but have a nice dinner planned!

My spread from this years' break fast. Fun fact: I made my own hummus and used the water from boiling chickpeas to braise my greens yesterday! I hope you all had a safe fast.

This is a fantastic thread

Do I need to Macklemore take is this legally required of me ok fine it is this: I don't think it is helpful to the Palestinian cause to be associated with a man who many-not-all Jews will remember as the one who brazenly wore a schozz-y antisemitic costume.

So long story short, Nate & I needed new pots and pans. We had ours since my first apartment senior year of college so... It was time. And our are from MadeIn. Look at how pretty they are!!! Just in time for a few major meals.

In this article, we use fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) to explore waste water, through Environment, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) scores, to understand the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) global supply chain.

We find that those with the best environmental scorecards are also those with the highest levels of water pollution emissions, regardless of their recycling platforms, as well as those with the most international partner. We explore what that means for governments as well as future research.

Used Michael Twitty's book on The American South to make red beans and some red rice. The rice came out a little mushy (I can never get rice exact for some reason) but still both were delicious.

My friend's birthday was today so I made a cake! I even invited him to join me in eating the cake. A chocolate cake (3 layers) with a Swiss Meringue Buttercream. My son informed me he likes the blue but not the white... Even though they were the same.

First day of classes in the books (Research Methods) and I have already found a way to add discussions of brownies into class discussions! Now students are asking me for recipes and may ask @rnavarre.bsky.social if I actually bake! So successful class.
