Still covering Elon Musk as a business mogul and not foregrounding his murderous white nationalist politics is like doing a piece on only the clown career of John Wayne Gacy.

A colleague mentioned on a Zoom call how he started shopping at a restaurant supply store and named a product I had never heard of and have no reason to buy. 10 hours later I saw an ad for it on Facebook. Zoom is 100% mining transcripts and selling the data, with participant names, to ad vendors.

Seeing a lot of right wing rage bait, normally completely absent, in my facebook feed. I can tell that's the American right trying to fill the gap left by the destroyed Russian bot farms, because like everything the American right does the targeting is a complete failure.

Not looking forward to heating my house this winter after the historically unpopular and obviously incompetent president started a pointless war that nearly doubled the price of oil.

In the last few years bags of fun size candy bars have doubled in price, from $3.50 to $7. Corporations have lost their damn minds!

My thoughts: - Case isn't as sickly as I'd like him to be - The Marcus Garvey scene looks so much like The Matrix, which makes sense because that sequence was clearly influential to The Matrix - The tagline should be"The future is already here" instead of "The future is in your mind" iykyk - Excited

You're telling me that Google is spending billions of dollars on a feature no one wants, which costs Google money every time it's used while simultaneously undercutting the ad network that represents 78% of their revenue, and it's not proving to be an effective strategy? I'm shocked.

Google (GOOGL) Free Cash Flow goes negative for the first time in history. They’re spending too much on data centers, and search revenues came in below expectations

I recently saw a line about AI-generated content that said "why would I want to read something that no one even bothered to write?" and I think my whole company feels that in our collective bones as we stare down a 29-item code review queue.

My most unhinged (but 100% accurate) take is that if you go to a museum and see a "Do Not Touch" label, everything there that isn't similarly labelled is fair game to touch.

Last week I saw someone with a Chiquita Bananas baseball cap and I said "That is quite possibly the world's perfect hat." He had no idea what I was talking about and I suddenly felt 1000 years old.

Hey guess what? The dow isn't over 50,000 anymore. In fact it's significantly under. Can we start prosecuting the human traffickers now?

Remember homework? We'd spend 7 hours at school and then 5-8 different people would give us extra tasks to do at home every night. Absurd. No wonder work culture is so toxic in this country.

You go to Sweetwater to buy a weird cable. You put it in your cart. You check your cable stash to make sure you don't already have one. You have a couple, but you're not sure how well they work. You return to your cart. You wonder "do I need any other weird cables right now?" You start shopping.

My Secura electric kettle gave up the ghost today, after 6 years of 2-3 cycles a day. I wish it lasted a little longer, but I didn't hesitate for a single minute to order a new one of the exact same product. Solid $29 purchase.

Nothing describes the soul of the Republican Party more than Pam Bondi citing the stock markets as her excuse for not going after pedophile billionaires.

When a new administration is in power and the Department of Justice returns to its traditional, non-partisan operation, I'm begging you to please please please remember that prosecuting the previous administration for its actual crimes is not a partisan issue. That doesn't "make us just like them."

Each year I'm surprised to learn that (only) six more weeks of winter is meant to be the scary outcome. Where I live the idea that spring might arrive in mid February is laughable and if it arrives in mid-March there's a county-wide wave of euphoria. Snow until May is more common.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs) Good tech. Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales) Bad tech.

If Native Instruments goes under, it won't be for lack of support from me. I have at least seven of their hardware devices and approximately every piece of software they've ever released. Fingers crossed they get back on track, or Dirk Ulrich buys them out from the PE firm that tanked the company.

The Mandalorian s2E16 The Return. People need a collective opportunity to cry tears of joy and whatever else this brings up for them.

I realized that I can buy lossless versions of older tracks that I love for like $2 and then remaster them myself to make them sound more dancefloor-friendly alongside modern material. I'm gonna be such a menace! 😁

I’m laughing so hard at this: these types of promo screenings are always in big cities, so seeing Chicago, NYC, Boston, LA on here isn’t a surprise, but then you’ve got Springfield VT in the mix, which is hilarious to me because Springfield is… far from everything.

I'm rereading William Gibson's "Neuromancer" for the first time in a decade and recognizing anew its massive influence on *everything*. Every few paragraphs it casually invents something that's foundational in modern culture or drops one of the coolest phrases I've ever read. It's staggering!

When Case is talking to the Dixie Flatline construct, the flow, limitations, and psychological impacts of those interactions feel so much like todays Large Language Models. 40 years after publication, the rough edges of brand new technologies are already predicted in this amazing work. Mindblowing.

Guys, every person you see on Fox News in a mask is just Robert O'Neill, retired Navy Seal and occasional Fox News contributor. He's the former Antifa, former Gazan, former gang member. His eyes are very unique.

I can’t believe I’m watching interviews of city mayors talking about how they are coordinating with other mayors to discuss how to protect their residents FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES I know we are “used to it” but it is absolutely insane
