Unai Emery is undoubtedly a good coach. Like everyone he needs the right situation to excel, his just seems to be at the tier below the biggest club level. He’s great when he’s more of the outsider/underdog. Aston Villa where he fights for 6th to 3rd is a perfect match.

Mikel Arteta has a reputation over using players and not doing rotation but I think this is something that has gotten significantly better over the last 18 months or so.

As I have gotten more experience officiating, being a stickler for enforcing a coach’s technical area makes your life harder and like you’re a small petty person.

The only exception I have for this if they are interfering with the crew’s or players ability to move up and down or if they are coming on to argue a call. After that you are stuck in your box, but if you’re leaving me alone and coaching nope.

I don’t know if Arteta is saying anything to the official here that earns him his yellow but otherwise this feels like silly trying to make an example out of him performative actions.

I had some reservations about Merino as a true midfielder and how the balance would work. I think he's played quite well here. He's floated around and impacted all over. Good half from him.

This Konsa goal was the first goal have scored in the opening 10 minutes of a Premier League match this season. Nice to get off to a quick start for once.

Watching the women on the main screen, I see City had 7 shots on target an 3.0 post shot xG, was this a good game from Suzuki here to only let 1 in?

Villa 2 (0.6) - (1.5) 1 Man City

This is a good usage of the KPI graphic. Here is Goals, xG, Deep Completions, and Field Tilt compared to all other teams that have won the title in the Premier League going back to 2011-12

Would love to see a ranking of this attack versus other title winning teams

I make the argument that Arsenal's current trade off of a good attack and elite defense is optimal. We'd love to have elite attack + elite defense but we cannot drop the elite defense portion.

Arsenal’s attack isn’t ‘ELITE’ but it is better than mediocre - Hyperbole and negativity rules the day online but that doesn’t mean that we have to accept that framing www.cannonstats.com/p/arsenals-a...

Cannon Stats Champions League, League Phase Projection after the first 3 rounds have been played. Madrid are favored to finish in the top spot right now but it is still pretty wide open.
