Truly upset I missed out on meeting Jane Schroenbrun when I lived in Portland. Was in a bad place and didn’t make it out to the screening they attended. But if I had, I would’ve told them that their talent for universality is immeasurable.

Love that they use MIASMA to call out those interpreting I SAW THE TV GLOW as pure allegory as having deprived themselves of the beauty and joy of giving in to something fantastical and lovely and true. They are in the Midnight Realm. You’re just too analytical to give into the wonder of that.

I think I love CAMP MIASMA so much because I am both sides of the equation. Depending on the flick, I’m either the annoying person spitting out “split diopter” with zero restraint or I’m the other person who has, in every meaningful way, given themselves over to the experience.

Ok how bad could Fuller’s version of Crystal Lake really have been? Because I made it exactly 3 mins into the pilot before rolling my eyes so hard that my retinas detached. I watch a lot of trash and couldn’t make it 10 mins into the first ep.

I do feel like Emaline is an unforced error. The whole series seems to build up to the idea that kindness and empathy are strangled by insecure people. Having Emaline take the heat seems like a crutch. We can love Carrie even as a “monster.” Cripples the narrative imo. A

Like the entire series is despite her sheltered upbringing, her bigoted parents, years of oppression etc, Carrie still has empathy. And this one night is when she’s supposed to lose it because all she asked for was one night of being “normal.” I think robbing her of her anger is counterintuitive.

“Split Personality” from S4 of Tales From the Crypt is probably one of the earliest horror things I’ve ever seen. I was enthralled and titillated. Rewatching it now… man Pesci is so good. And Burt Young and Joey Pants in the opening scene! What an ep.
