New ref sheet! I wanted to do some design updates for this guy, and the existing sheet was six years old?!! So we are

Something I've found is I really like messy, human-looking linework in other people's art, but when I ink stuff digitally I'm always worrying about things not being clean enough, zooming in endlessly to make tiny fixes, etc The pen kind of takes that option away from me and I prefer the results

Pens actually kind of goated

belfort and lupin are gay in the same way that the girls in wolfwalkers are gay in the same way challengers is gay and if you can't see gay people when you see them then i suggest developing your frontal lobe ❤️ no one would even be thinking about questioning it if belfort was a girl ❤️❤️❤️

I've been drawing more recently--pencil studies, stuff not worth posting--and it's been getting me thinking about how much influence social media platforms have over the work I'm doing.

As I get older I think more and more about, like, what's the body of work I'm leaving behind--am I doing work I'm proud of? If the answer isn't "yes" then "it did numbers tho" will be cold comfort, right?

I was finally starting to feel free from that pull after being pretty inactive on twitter for a couple years and having a much smaller audience on here--but as soon as I posted some old art and started scoring numbers it woke up the voice again.

I have a part of my brain that wants to be experimental and challenging and another part that says "hey if you draw another 2-panel porn thing with a funny punchline you'll probably get another 1k followers on here."

I don't really make money from this so I don't NEED my engagement to be high. I'm not pressed about it in the way I see a lot of artists get. AND YET...

I do have a pretty good sense of what type of art will get Big Numbers and what won't (it's not as random as people like to say) and I do feel this pull, all the time, to do that type of art, even at the expense of doing other types of art that might excite me more.
