Bang up job caving @kaine.senate.gov. It’s almost like everyone else knew this would happen.
BREAKING: Mike Johnson just said he won't call a vote this year to extend enhanced subsidies under the Affordable Care Act — effectively guaranteeing they will expire at the end of this month.
Dems need to realize there is no return to normal or the old days. Nor should Dems want to go back to a time of feckless Dem leadership. We need a bold agenda that defends democracy, defends our constitutional freedoms, and uplifts the working class.
"The 'deterrence' view proposes that would-be authoritarians need to see that liberalism has teeth. That those who attempt to undo the liberal order will face consequences. That there are no free shots; that the ratchet can turn the other way."
In other words, this is the payback for big oil helping elect Trump. These clowns don't give a damn about people nor the planet. This is about money and the rich think they can escape global warming.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright says rescinding all greenhouse gas emissions regulations is about ending "the cancel culture Orwellian squelching of science"
Vile remarks made by Dem state house Rep. Carla Cunningham supporting the GOP overriding Gov. Stein's veto. A couple of Mecklenburg Democrats did a lot of damage to the state today. We Dems are supposed to be for the working class & support those in need. These two did the opposite today. #ncpol
Immigration bill override passes House, after Rep. Cunningham's remarks that "if you ask me to line up behind another group of people to raise awareness about their plight, I unapologetically say no." And two Democrats crossed over to back bill shifting regulatory power to the legislature. #ncpol
Wake County, including the funding freeze, has now lost $34 million from the Trump administration. This fits the narrative that if someone wanted to weaken our country, they’d slash education funding just as they’ve slash USAID, science research, and on and on.
Wake County Superintendent Robert Taylor gave his opinion today on NPR's "Morning Edition" on the impact of the federal funding freeze & why he thinks students will be worse off if the US Department of Education is dismantled. www.npr.org/2025/07/16/n... #wcpss #nced #ncpol
I hope @wileynickel.com senate campaign runs some ads connecting the cabinet confirmation votes by Thom Tillis to the likes of the anti-vaxxer/anti-science Kennedy. What a fucking disaster this guy has been.
Mass murderer. (gift link)

AND tax billionaires almost out of existence.
The richest man in the world spent more money than most of us will see in our lifetimes to lose a state Supreme Court race by 10 points. And the fact his $25 million was a drop in the bucket compared to what he's spent on other elections is exactly why we must overturn Citizens United.
This is great. I've said this before and I will keep saying this as someone who believes in our Constitution. Frame all these issues around the Constitution and relentlessly press MAGA on whether or not they believe what is in the Constitution.
“Scott? Hello? Look at me. You and I are talking.” You can tell Scott Jennings knows how un-American this dismissal of due process is by how red-faced and petulant he gets when Abby Phillip is simply trying to have an adult conversation with him about what our laws actually say.
This shows how terrible @schumer.senate.gov is as a leader. There should be a full "Protect Our Democracy" agenda with multiple amendment proposals on half a dozen topics. Introduce them over and over again. But Dems in the Senate are leaderless and Chuck is addicted to that Wall St. money.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is introducing a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, the case that opened the floodgates to dark money and the buying of elections by billionnaires. 👏👏👏
I don't see reverting to focus on national security, I see Dems (though not enough) rightfully calling for the firing of SecDef. @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social was spot on yesterday. Operate on multiple fronts while keeping the main focus the anti-oligarchy fervor.
The Signal story is a glaring display of incompetence and sloppiness, and it’s also fun to mock, but as a political matter, let’s not overstate its salience. “Russiagate” didn’t move the dial. Dems reverting to a focus on national security would be malpractice amid this mass anti-oligarchy fervor.
Another demonstration on just how weak @schumer.senate.gov is as a leader. Some Democratic Senators will continue to fail the party. They just don't understand the moment or they are not aware of the moment.
The senate is now voting on the confirmation of Christopher Landau for Deputy Secretary at the State Dept, who's promoted the destruction of USAID. Amy Klobuchar just voted yes.

That’s the spirit. Onward! “Pelosi noted her and Jeffries’ shared confidence in Schumer … ‘What happened last week was last week,’ Pelosi said. ‘We’re going into the future.’” To win.

Democrats need to explain both why certain government agencies exist and their value. We don't have cleaner air and water because corporations grew a conscience, it took regulations and enforcement. Same with workplace safety. Countless example that impact people's lives.
Suozzi on Fox on DOGE: "What we're seeing from DOGE is a lot of it has just been reckless. Why do you want to eliminate people who work to oversee the nuclear stockpile? Why do you want to get rid of people who oversee the avian flu? Why do you want to get rid of ppl who oversee a measles outbreak?"
A list on what would immediately change these numbers for the better: 1. Removing Schumer and Durbin That's the list for now. I had a longer list, but this would be an enormous shot in the arm for the party. This must happen.
The Democratic Party's favorability rating among Americans stands at a record low, fueled in part by dimming views from its own frustrated supporters, a new CNN Poll finds: cnn.it/4bRAzKs
Do not let Senate Dems just move on, they must replace Schumer. Keeping him as the leader does enormous damage to the party and to the resistance. If you do nothing, you are complicit regardless of your words. The first Senator to call for him to step aside will be a hero to all Dems.
Good morning. Republicans want to throw millions of people off Medicaid so they can give a new giant tax cut for billionaires and corporations. Their plan: $1.1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and food assistance to afford $1.1 trillion in tax giveaways for the richest 1%.

And now we see the game plan from some Senate Dems. Attempt to move on and not confront the fact that Schumer lied to both the House Dems and us Dems that make up the base. Do not let them move on from this. Schumer must step down as leader. He betrayed the base of the party and the House Dems.
Democrats (and pundits) love a good family feud, but we’re in a battle for our democracy against dangerous forces, and every moment we spend quarreling amongst ourselves lets the other team score while we fight. It’s a luxury we cannot afford.
@schumer.senate.gov and @durbin.senate.gov would love to move on from the CR debate. The problem is they’ve now shown they will do nothing to actually fight back with only real tool we have. They betrayed us all. I’ve never been so enraged at Dem politicians.
The CR debate is over. It's time to move on. We need to focus on our common task, on the urgent task: Fighting Trump and his assault on the rule of law; resisting the cruelty and indecency of Trumpism; thwarting the plot to replace liberal democracy with autocracy. Hoc opus, hic labor est.
We need more of this. Members of Congress calling out those who "played dead." Well done!!
Today the biggest split among Democrats is between those who want to stand and fight and those who want to play dead. House Democrats united to stand and fight. Too many Senate Democrats played dead. We need more leaders from the stand and fight wing of the Democratic Party.
Senate Dems that stood strong need to remove @schumer.senate.gov & @durbin.senate.gov. They betrayed the House and the base. I can't believe they gave away the only leverage we have for NOTHING! I speak for all of us now, Fuck them Forever! Elevate @klobuchar.senate.gov & @booker.senate.gov asap.
How did @schumer.senate.gov not do this very thing? Simple, straightforward messaging and putting it all on the GOP. He must be replaced as he can no longer be trusted to lead this fight.
Democrats didn’t write this bill, but if we did—we would have protected public schools. We'd put veterans first. We would have protected our public lands, your health care, and lifesaving cancer research, for god’s sake! I am voting NO on cloture, final passage—all of it.
@schatz.bsky.social had big words about fighting things in the Senate. Well, people are sufficiently pissed off and you are about to demonstrate if you have integrity or if you are part of the Schumer Surrender club. Hope you do the right thing and vote no on cloture.
R’s have the votes in the House to cut Medicaid. That could/should change. Voting for the “framework” might be easier than voting to actually enact Medicaid cuts, but R’s won tonight. We will fight this in Senate but it will come down to people outside of the capitol being sufficiently pissed off.
For as much criticism as @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has taken, only one House member did the unthinkable. Great job by him and the rest of the Dems in the House for holding the line and understanding the bigger issue.
This should be one of the Democrats repeated lines: for the GOP health care is big business and can be taken away from you. We Democrats believe health care is a right that you can never lose and you shouldn’t need a gofundme page if you or a loved one gets sick. This isn’t difficult people.
Canadian Prime Minister–designate Mark Carney: "The Americans want our resources, our water, our land, our country. If they succeeded, they would destroy our way of life. In America, healthcare is big business. In Canada, it is a right."

I love that these dumbasses said Dems should get out of elite circles while having their meeting in the super wealthy DC suburb of Loudoun County. So much stupidity from that group.
New: Last month, a group of moderate Democratic consultants, campaign staffers, elected officials & party leaders gathered in Loudoun County, Virginia, for a retreat where they plotted their party’s comeback. We got their takeaways. t.co/bEwlg4jbtM
