25 years ago today, George W. Bush signed the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force into law. Barbara Lee was the only member of Congress to vote against it, warning it would be a blank check for forever wars. History has proven her lonely and courageous vote right.

Maybe you can set an agenda, then, that prioritizes your sci-fi-ish fantasies over, say, the real, documented impacts of AI on: climate change, disinformation, and consolidation of corporate power.

People read the "AI WILL KILL US" narrative as involving a brave whistleblower revealing that AI researchers believe AI will kill us all — suggesting that they know something we don't, having worked on the technology. AI CEOs had to respond. As did politicians from Trump to Sanders. That's false.

AI poses a lot of dangers to humanity, so why is the only one its CEOs are talking about the one that also extremely good for their bottom line ("omg our models are TOO powerful").l?

I think there's going to be a weird inflection point where traditional media is our arbitrators of truthagain. The only reason I believe this isn't ai generated is because the NY Times posted it

This is the moment a supermarket manager in Puebla, Mexico, rescued a toddler running toward a busy road.

wow -- Tillis eviscerates Vought about DOGE's fake budget cuts & tells him, "My understanding is the last time you worked in the business world was at B Dalton's books when you were putting yourself through law school...I don't love the idea of DOGE shit we're picking up because people did it wrong"

I am stunned that the constitutional question was so close. I thought it would be 6–3 or 7–2. It is profoundly disturbing that four justices would allow either the president or Congress to rewrite the plain text of the 14th Amendment. This is obviously a good outcome, but the margin is alarming.

It'll be interesting to see if JD's strategy of constantly saying he's confused will pay off...

Q: There was a moment yesterday when Araghchi did not shake your hand, then he walked out. Did you feel snubbed by that? JD VANCE: No. Sometimes I find the Iranians extremely confusing as negotiators.

I'm a bit worried Trump might think he needs to bomb algae-ria next.

Trump on the reflecting pool: “We met with contractors today, will probably be forced to release and drain much of the water in order to do the necessary repairs, but will have them done as quickly as possible.” 😭

Have they considered bombing the algae?

i have been obsessed with this for years. allowing manufacturers to sell direct to consumers would be good for consumers and also destroying the car dealership would be an existential crisis for republicans

I feel it’s sort of underrated the extent to which a Dem Congress and/or states could (1) absolutely destroy car dealerships as a business, and (2) this would cripple a lot of GOP state and local parties

Just so we all understand how incredibly stupid he is, the orange felon wants to constantly attack and insult NATO as well as always threatening to end the alliance whilst simultaneously asking them for help in his illegal Iran War. He belongs in prison, not in the White House.

You are up to date.
