ICYMI: my post on the sheer unhealthiness and groupthink of the culture around AI, "a community of would-be-martyrs, enmeshed in a deep paranoid fantasy that they alone can stave off the end of the world."
Multiple staff at the UK’s AI Safety Institute, the global leader in the independent testing of frontier AI models, have been signed off work with stress and are undergoing counselling, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

AFTER REVIEW NUMBER TEN PARAGUAY COVER HIS MOUTH DECISION IS RDRDRED CARD
Some interesting replies here. I was born in and lived most of my life in (Greater) Manchester. Mancs do love expounding on it's (and their) greatness. The "we do things differently here" bollox really grinds my gears tbh. Maybe I'm temperamentally a Brummie, have always enjoyed my visits there.
Was chatting about the relative invisibility of Birmingham compared to Manchester yesterday. Theories: -Lack of top flight football and music scene -Lack of defining visuals -Made bad bet on wrong kind of urbanism -Midlands identity just gets lost in north/south duality -Relative economic decline
