Philly people: lots of words will get your post into the feed linked below, such as “Schuylkill” or “cheesesteak” or “Phanatic.” If your post is Philly-specific but doesn’t have obvious Philly keywords (“Someone just mooned the Portal”), stick a single 🔔 somewhere in the post & it goes in the feed.

He says he wants a Pepsi elsewhere so I think “peppers” is a typo. You’d have to be criminally insane to want 20 oz. of peppers on a cheesesteak. Well, or mayo.

One of the reasons I don't really pay attention to the Eagles while baseball is still happening is once baseball is over you have a pretty good sense of whether the Eagles are going to be worth paying attention to.

Husband just reminded me of the time I had the idea of an influencer named Testicular who repeatedly hits himself in the balls with a hammer

Personally I would have given a Fields Medal to the guy who invented, like, zero.

Just got Blu-rays of this, BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING (also region-free) and THE SWIMMER (region B) for $32 including shipping.

I need to check the building-donation deadline. Is it before applications are due or can it be at the same time?

It's weird to be a resident of Earth and not to have a rooting interest in the Brazilian rainforest.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

This weird centrist take is weird for the same reason it's weird for leftists to sit out elections with imperfect candidates. The planet isn't going to hold off on warming until the Democrats finally learn their candidate lesson or whatever.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Imagine the campaign finance hell a US presidential candidate would be unleashing in opposition if they proposed banning online gambling.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

LearnedLeague question from the other day, from a One-Day called "Transnational Film Adaptations and Remakes." One of the answers I knew. The other one I had no clue about:

Nightmare: A friend published an academic book that I was in, but I couldn't find myself in the index. I was upset, & everyone thought it was my ego, but actually I was upset b/c the metadata was wrong. Information wants to be found! I woke up very stressed.

Pretty tepid response to this from the crowd.

You know what evenings I’m generally doing other things and don’t have the capacity to watch World Series baseball? Friday and Saturday. You know what evening I’m usually home in and would love to watch some World Series baseball? Sunday.

I’ve never been to the (mostly tourist-catering) Cheesecake Factory in Center City, but my hot take is Philadelphians don’t really need CF because we have Sabrina’s Cafe.

I've seen the movie but I always forget how lurid the average Tennessee Williams property gets. But this was fun. One opera singer, two actors on stage, two filmed actors, a youth choir/roving pack of bird creatures, and a painter working live on stage with her paintings projected on the back wall.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
