Ten years of relentlessly hateful, comically elitist anti-democratic politics across the white people world, helpfully summarised. The wrong people are talking, the wrong people are deciding and it’s harming the careers of important people who actually matter. Smithers! Release the hounds

Working on art for Mirage (working name, but rapidly becoming the final name if I can't think of something better)

I'm really happy with this game. Haven't even started on layout yet, which has me nervous, but it won't be too complicated

You are pirates flying skiffs to steal water from other skiffs and pay corporate mines for the right to survive the planet's harsh conditions.

I feel like I could sleep another ten hours

Also, fabula Ultima framed as a monster hunter game would work very well. I used the odogaron as inspo for an alzabo esque villain and it's worked very well

How do you, as a gm, handle things taking longer than expected?

It succeeds in making the world feel meaningful, but it also ate up so much time. I'm not really sure how I'm going to handle it going forward.

It's tricky. I'm hoping to move through this area they're in fairly quickly so we can get to something else.

How do you, as a gm, handle things taking longer than expected?

A big chunk of the game time this far has been traveling per Fabula Ultima's travel rules. They weirdly kind of seem at odds with how the rest of the game is structured.

It fits the genre emmulation but now that I'm on the other side of the travel, it does feel like grinding. It feels like the characters wouldn't level up enough if there weren't more distance between set pieces so there has to be travel rolls.

How do you, as a gm, handle things taking longer than expected?

I've been running this game for almost a year and we haven't even gotten through the intro mission.

We really only have 2ish hours a week to play. I don't want to truncate things, but I'd really like for them to get to see more of the world and have more of their individual character's stories explored.

I've been thinking about MTG lately as a design space and what it would look like to revive the roleplaying game that is buried at the very bottom of its history.

But what if that was the core of it. What would mechanical incentives for roleplay look like? How would I go about reintroducing the prima-fiction to this game of meta-fictional?

If you've read this far, do you have any suggestions for a izzet commander? I want to do something spellslingery, but can't make up my mind on where to go with it.

I've been thinking about MTG lately as a design space and what it would look like to revive the roleplaying game that is buried at the very bottom of its history.

There's a popular anecdote about MTG coming from a game of dnd that snowballed into this meta system of cards and abilities. I haven't started researching whether there is truth there, but I've heard that origin from somewhere before.

The original fiction of the game is that you the player are a planeswalker who is summoning creatures and casting spells within the world itself. This is still retained in the framing and naming of mechanical pieces. I don't know how common that knowledge is with the current playerbase

I worry I may be further off on Storm Rats V2 than I thought. Even since I rewrote it in like March, my design sensibilities and have refined quite a bit. It needs a lot of editing before it's where I want it to be.

20 Aug

And the worst part of all of it is that I'm still feeling hurt and upset about the actual thing that happened. We talked and I'm still upset.
