Electricity costs have gone up more than twice as fast as the overall cost of living in North Carolina. Electricity isn’t a luxury item. I will continue to push back against rate hikes and fight for affordable energy.

Congratulations to William Peace University for receiving nearly $3 million in Title III grant funding! I had a great time on campus speaking with students about issues that matter most to them ahead of the midterm elections.

Our state's economic growth has been fueled by innovation, but much of this progress has been halted by tariffs and other disastrous policies by this administration. I was grateful for a meaningful dialogue w/ the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce about how we can work together for small businesses.

Instead of delivering long-overdue justice to Camp Lejeune victims, Trump is dragging them into a political fight, threatening to withhold settlement money if Republicans lose in North Carolina. Justice for Camp Lejeune victims isn't a partisan issue. Sick and grieving families have suffered enough

Americans paid an additional $310 for groceries in 2025. The President’s cuts to care and food assistance are hurting Americans across the board. And Republicans in Congress have voted again and again for these cuts, knowing that they would raise your costs.

I’m proud to have earned a perfect score on the @humanrightscampaign scorecard! While LGBTQ+ rights are consistently under attack by Republicans in Congress, we defeated nearly every provision they pushed forward. I will always fight for my LGBTQ+ constituents and defend their rights and dignity.

President Trump has cost NC-02 families more than $3,800 this year. Despite his promises to end inflation and lower costs, North Carolina families are still paying for his broken promises.

Same grocery bill, smaller cart. I visited Grand Asia Market in Raleigh to talk with owner Richard Chang about how reckless tariffs and high fuel prices are driving up costs for both families and small businesses.

Prices aren't rising by accident. Republicans have voted with Trump to raise the cost of healthcare, food, gas, and more. I spoke about how I'm working to lower costs at my town hall Wednesday in West Raleigh. North Carolina deserves leaders who work for them, not against them.

The Raleigh-to-Richmond Rail Line is a testament to what we can achieve when federal, state, and local leaders work together. By investing in a more efficient transportation system, we are building the infrastructure needed to support our state's growing population and economy.

The threats of white supremacy and anti-Indian hate must be taken seriously and unequivocally condemned. My heart goes out to our Hindu and Indian communities in North Carolina and beyond in the wake of this frightening attack.

Congratulations to North Carolina's own Christina Koch on becoming NASA’s acting deputy chief engineer. Christina Koch made our state proud as the first woman to journey around the moon. Now, I look forward to working with her as she leads the next chapter of American space travel.

newsobserver.comChristina Koch to trade space missions for engineering role in NASA leadership postKoch will become NASA’s acting deputy chief engineer on November 1, making her ineligible for future spaceflight assignments.

Unlike this pumpkin, your plan to vote shouldn’t be up in the air. Early voting in North Carolina starts TODAY, October 15th. Check your voter registration and make a plan to vote!

Thanks to high energy costs, inflation rose to 3.7%. Americans can't keep up with continuously rising prices. But instead of working to lower costs, Republicans in DC have voted for Trump’s tariffs, supported his war with Iran, and backed policies that are driving up costs for American families.

cbsnews.comSeptember CPI report shows inflation accelerated to 3.7% as energy costs soaredGas prices, which jumped 9.1% in September from August, accounted for more than half the monthly rise in inflation.

It was an honor to welcome German Ambassador to the United States, Jens Hanefeld, to North Carolina. Ambassador Hanefeld's visit highlighted our countries' shared goals and the opportunities ahead to strengthen the partnership between North Carolina and Germany.

I was delighted to attend Hum Sub’s Annual Diwali celebration in Cary this weekend! Hum Sub is a pillar of our community, and it is always inspiring to join them each year for Diwali. I look forward to many joyous celebrations in the years to come.

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day to celebrate the rich history and important contributions of Native communities to North Carolina and beyond. Indigenous communities have experienced centuries of discrimination yet continue to endure. Today, we honor them and recommit to pursuing justice.

It was an honor to join @NCLifeSci to discuss the future of life sciences in the Triangle. I’m honored to represent so many businesses and organizations that are innovating across the life sciences sector. Investing in biosciences is an investment in North Carolina’s people and our future.

I'm proud to have earned an A from Defend the Vote for my record of protecting voting rights, fighting corruption, + defending election integrity. Voting is our most fundamental right, and the Trump Administration is still trying to disenfranchise voters. I will fight to ensure every vote counts.

Starting Jan 1, Trump's new work requirements for Medicaid go into effect, jeopardizing coverage for thousands of North Carolinians + raising healthcare premiums across the board. I held a roundtable with policymakers + providers to discuss what's at risk and what those with Medicaid should know.

In 2024, Republicans spent months trying to overturn the fair election of NC Justice Allison Riggs. Justice Riggs joined our shadow hearing to speak about their attempts at election interference.

It is a devastating and complex day for Jewish Americans—and all Americans—as we navigate the ongoing humanitarian aftermath and the expanding conflict in the Middle East. 2/3

North Carolina is no stranger to attacks on election integrity, and the state legislature is still trying to rig the rules. We will remain diligent and ensure that North Carolinians are guaranteed fair and equal access to the ballot box.

Survivors deserve better than political games. While the Trump Administration has abandoned survivors of sexual assault with its cuts to Title IX, in Congress, I’m working with my female colleagues to address gender-based violence and deliver justice to survivors. thehill.com/homenews/612...

Trump knows he can’t win a fair fight. That’s why he’s trying to insert as much uncertainty as possible into our elections before November. We will not let him get away with it.

For Hunger Action Day, I visited the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, which has provided hunger relief across our community for 45 years. Amid a cost-of-living crisis and cuts to SNAP benefits, it's essential that North Carolina families have access to immediate food assistance.

At 10 AM, I am hosting a shadow hearing in Raleigh examining election security w/ @RepJoeMorelle + @ValerieFoushee, featuring NC Justice Allison Riggs. We’ll hear from experts about election interference and recent efforts to restrict voting access. And, we will share information on secure voting.

We saw the tragic effects of misinformation during Hurricane Helene—people across Western NC died because of it. I met with experts working to ensure North Carolinians get the resources and information they need. We must stay vigilant and prepare for the next storm.

A non-partisan report found that the Trump admin delayed disaster-proofing efforts that could help prevent the worst effects of disasters like Helene—with no real justification. This is a slap in the face to communities in North Carolina and all over the country.

As Trump threatened annihilation of our adversaries at the U.N., I was at New York Climate Week focused on real solutions to create a healthy economy and a healthy environment. The Thriving Economy Project is how we get there.

Attorney General Todd Blanche now has the power to decide where federal prisoners serve their sentences, allowing him to reward Trump’s allies and punish his enemies. I spoke to The Marshall Project about the policy change and the corruption that comes with it.

In case you missed it, all of these war crimes were actions taken or threatened by President Trump or Secretary Pete Hegseth. We will continue to shine a light on this administration’s criminal and dangerous actions.

25 years ago today, our country experienced one of the darkest days in its history— and was forever changed. On 9/11 we mourn the lives tragically lost and recognize the bravery of first responders and ordinary Americans. We stand today with those grieving loved ones and promise to never forget.

Nearly a decade after toxic chemicals were found in the Cape Fear River, North Carolinians are finally getting what we’re owed from polluters. This is the largest environmental damage payout in NC’s history and long-awaited justice for the 500,000+ residents who rely on the Cape Fear for water.
