What is the likelihood that if this report was authored by The Republican Judiciary about a Democratic president, it’d have been on the @nytimes.com front page? My answer: 100%. But bc it’s about Trump, it’s nowhere on the NYT from page. I scrolled all the way down, & not a damn word about it.
Evidence "shows that Trump lied about kicking Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club," according to a new report from the House Judiciary Dem staff. The report also reveals for the first time Beatrice Keul's account of allegedly having been raped by Trump. democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
GE in Israel: honestly, we aren’t sure how this election will shape up. Only thing we sure of now is that with a turnout projected to be round 80%, Arab-Israelis are turning out, & this is shaping up to be a referendum on Netanyahu/his coalition. Follow @avishaybsg.bsky.social for better updates
I agree with @avishaybsg.bsky.social here: this—with all the caveats needed—could be a positive sign for the change vote/bloc.
And, this makes it more challenging for the parties in the cusp of the electoral threshold (see my mega thread from yesterday). Accepted wisdom is that if they fail to pass it’s better for the change bloc.
If I am reading this correctly, this means that turnout among Arab Israelis is very high. And if my deduction is correct, some parties might not cross the threshold. The bigger implication of that is still too early to tell
Citing rate is off the charts. 44.9% have voted as of 2pm. In 2022 it was 38.9%. This is the highest mid-day reported voting rate ever. They highest on record until now was 1973 when they began reporting and that was 41.4%. We’re in high 70% (or more) territory at this pace.
Good thread for those looking for a quick explanation of the election. Who are the major players/blocks? What are their objectives? Etc.
In about 24 hours, poles will open here in Israel. In what is a strong contender for Israel’s most critical elections. The election pits Netanyahu’s extremely unpopular coalition against a non-coherent, but moderately more liberal, opposition. Here are some thoughts as we head into it.
See, everywhere you go, voting is easy. In our country, the hurdles are so damn high that voting is turning into an obstacle course. The demobilization theory in action
And these are the instructions on what disqualifies a ballot. Mismatch between ID and voter record doesn’t if it’s clear who you are, nor does mismatch between your current address and the one in the voter file.
The @nytimes.com is at it again. Never seen a news organization so scared of a president like the NYT is scared of Trump. I mean, he’s good business for them.

25 different women? 25!!! Holy hell 😱
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
He’s always been this racist. This is not new. Having said that, Arabs don’t produce literature? Really? I mean, seriously, REALLY? And FWIW, Omar Yaghi, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025, is literally the son of Palestinian refugees.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Not the 1st time he did that. Last time, it worked for him. Why not try it again.
Israel's longest serving Prime minister is posting images of queues outside polling stations in Arab towns, describing Palestinian citizens exercising their right to vote as an existential threat: "The future of our Jewish State is hanging in the balance".
God damn, all those APSAs in DC we were just lucky not to be killed, folks
Trump on DC: "Nobody wanted to eat out. They were afraid. Even if you were in the restaurant, people would walk in and like the Wild West, 'Hold it up!' Everybody is standing there. Can you imagine? A fancy restaurant. They were robbing the whole restaurant. It's crazy."

The speed with which so many execs cozied up to this authoritarian says more about their revealed preferences than long term strategic thinking. They saw a chance for what they saw as a "business friendly" autocrat and oligarchic consolidation and jumped at it.
if only there had been a way to predict this might happen based on nearly every midterm election cycle in modern american political history
Oh really? If someone said this at a Talarico’s or Sherod’s rally, the @nytimes.com would have it in bold on the front page.
Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."
“The director won’t protect even our most respected analysts when they tell hard truths, so they stopped telling them & learned to avoid topics the White House didn’t want to hear… Ratcliffe isn’t protecting the CIA from politicization; he’s leading it” And that’s the death of the CIA
This! 100% this 👇 If you don’t punish coup perpetrators & plotters, you are begging for them to succeed next time around.
One benefit of holding leaders accountable for crimes is that if Flávio Bolsonaro tries to overturn this election, he knows exactly where he’d end up. In prison, next to his father.
The Two-Round electoral system is a pretty good one It’s also an old system dating back to France’s July Monarchy of 1832. Later on, Michel included it in the constitution of the V Republic. The aim? Eliminate small/radical parties/candidates.
Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

Just to clarify something to those who aren’t familiar with Algeria: there will unlikely be any explanation or clarification about this deployment or the nature or scope of the deployment from the Algerian government and/or military. It’s total omertà, as usual.
Literally unprecedented. Algeria to deployment military troops/units to Niger. From what I’m hearing, it’s an open deployment. The official line is to protect investments in the oil sectors (construction of the Nigeria-Niger-Algeria pipeline & facilities). Unofficially, it’s an open mission.

@gabrielzucman.bsky.social: So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but one man paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?
This is surprising, & I’m happy it is surprising.
