The only reason this is possible is because there is no independent inspection of the code. Software development is self-regulated and we were supposed to have a duty of care. To make an analogy, this is equivalent to the construction industry switching to cardboard because it’s faster and cheaper.

Can we start arresting the pilots for human trafficking?! We need to shut this shit down!

BREAKING: A Trump-appointed judge has ruled DHS violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment when it removed Ahmed Soliman to Equatorial Guinea and must facilitate his return to the US. prospect.org/2026/10/07/f...

We really have to retire the USA National Anthem. How embarrassing to sing “land of the free, home of the brave” when everyone knows the truth: ICE abducting anyone in broad daylight & institutions quaking in front of a clown. I suggest “The wheels on the bus” as an apt replacement.

It strikes that we’ll hit net zero one way or another by 2050. Either we’ll do it proactively, or nature will so wreck civilization that commerce becomes a luxury. Given current trajectories, I’m betting on the latter.

Was the general loss of public restrooms the start of this enshittification era?

Public Restrooms 🤝 Bike Parking You can't expect people to spend their day (and their money) in a neighborhood if there's nowhere to safely leave a bike or comfortably use a restroom. Basic human needs shouldn't be paywalled behind a cafe purchase.

It’s election week! At this important moment I would like to address your entire planet with a message to the people of Earth. And I think I found the perfect place to do it.

The IMF says we pay $5T/year to subsidize fossil fuels — that's $13M per MINUTE to destroy our future. Meanwhile solar & wind fight for scraps. We don't have a funding problem. We have a priority problem.

It’s time to face the fact that we have entered a new Heat Age that will last thousands of years all because we wanted some cheap energy for a couple of hundred years. #climatechange

An incredible cover by Norwegian Jørgen Dahl Moe. Right down to the very last beautiful note. I think Bruce Springsteen would approve 100%. Hope he has heard this. I keep playing over and over. Enjoy!

I was horrified to recently learn that this policy was introduced during the OPEC oil crisis as a way to save a bit of gas at the known expense of pedestrian lives. The fact it wasn’t immediately rescinded at the end of the crisis explains so much.

Every second, $6,000 in fossil fuel subsidies are handed out globally. That’s $5 trillion/year. Renewables? Barely a fraction. We have 6–7 years to halve emissions. The industry has zero years of conscience. Share if you’ve had enough. 🌍✊

I hope Ive was led by a firm hand. He has a pretentious streak that destroys products if left unmanaged. Never thought this Polytechnic grad would end up a massive twat. But these are the times.

There is no clearer case for the necessity of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 than how quickly southern states moved to eliminate Black-majority districts and dilute Black power after SCOTUS eroded Section 2. SCOTUS’s reasoning was immediately disproven by reality.

Not sure why they’re not putting their efforts behind LibreOffice, but also Europe needs to establish its own shared code repository. GitHub is yet another vulnerability. It’s owned by Microsoft after all…

One has to wonder when California decides it’s time to call it quits from this sinking ship! US population has started its decline about 50 years earlier than expected! Trump is about to explode the debt and start a war with Europe!

Despite the SCOTUS displaying blatant partisanship and casual disregard of precedent, the Democrats, if/when they regain power, will do nothing about it and will allow the SCOTUS to hamstring them at any and every opportunity. #SCOTUS

headed to the US for work next week so once again playing a game of "where can I go in the state I'm writing about if I want to be in a GOP area but cannot drive or expense cabs" (I do not like the game it's a bad game)

Let’s see how the military branches are doing on war crimes? US Army? Tortured people at Abu Ghraib and shot innocent people for fun in Iraq. US Air Force? Slaughtered wedding parties and others via indiscriminate drone attacks. US Navy? Now murdering people in the Caribbean. Fucking hell.
