Sigh

Mark Cuban@mcuban.bsky.social

Hypothetically. If complimenting trump meant that there would definitely be 2026 elections and the Dems would sweep Congress in a landslide , would you compliment Trump ? Or, Is is that thought so abhorrent, you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. Even at the expense of staying the minority?

Reddit is huge. But when I signed up, it was just a small Digg clone. Bluesky is huge. But when I signed up, it was just a small Twitter clone. Slack is huge. But when I first signed up, it was just another IRC clone. So what if your idea already exists. If you think you can do it better, do so.

the reason this discourse will never end is because it is completely untethered from any kind of evidentiary standard. as long as there is a 19-year-old barista somewhere saying “cultural appropriation,” guys like nichols will complain that “democrats” use alienating language.

Just a reminder that while it may feel good to cheer James Dobson’s death, he had a family who loved him and they are grieving, and that’s also a good reason to cheer.

I heard, somewhere that I can't now find, someone say " whoever in the Trump administration that came up with this idea deserves a raise" , about the European leaders "being invited ". Or words to that effect. And no, they weren't maga, they were a journalist. I legitimately LOL at it.

NEW: Earlier this month, HHS announced it was discontinuing mRNA vaccine research. To justify the move, it linked to a document purporting to chronicle COVID vaccine harms. The document was authored by prominent anti-vaxxers—some with ties to a supplements company that sells a spike protein “detox.”

Just disgusting. ICE needs to go.

UPDATE — DHS spokesperson confirms delivery worker Cristian Enrique Carias Torres was brutalized by six ICE agents in DC on Saturday for being undocumented and having traffic violations. The administration says they’re “proud” of their agents. The full despicable statement provided to me here:

Ok, you know why I don’t like Gavin Newsom? You know how in While You Were Sleeping, Peter Gallagher’s family all talks about how he rescued a nest of baby birds as a kid, and later he admits he knocked their nest out of the tree with a rock, then made sure everyone saw him rescue it? That’s Gavin.

lol, nope!

“I was skeptical about a Stewart candidacy, but maybe ‘The Daily Show’ host is the right person to shake up the Democratic presidential primaries.” Me for Zeteo on the debate over ⁦‪Jon Stewart‬⁩ and 2028:

It is possible that some of y'all know this character. Feel free to follow him. He is a lot like me, but probably less sweary and a little less overt in his opinions of certain things.

Rob Wolfe@rob-wolfe.com

My name is Rob Wolfe. I am a middle school social studies teacher in Pender County, North Carolina I will be posting mostly about cats, electronics, educational issues, and how not to be too sweary on BlueSky. I will often fail at the last bit, but I will try. #OneGoodThing is important

Oh my God This is just a horrifying idea

We stopped expanding the House in the 1920s, decided the Supreme Court should freeze in the 1930s, added the last states in the 1950s, amended the Constitution only once in the last fifty years. The USA and its government continued to grow, but almost all that growth came in the executive branch.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i really think the only reason we haven't created new states — which was a common political tactic in the 19th century, see nevada and the dakotas — is that 50 is a round number

Nope. Wrong. When your friend is fucking up you owe it to them to not assist them.

Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO. Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

As an immigrant & naturalized US Citizen, I am pained to see fellow immigrants buy MAGA talking points to demonize new immigrants. Know this: Proximity to white supremacy is not protection from white supremacy. Please have compassion over condemnation, because I promise—they'll come for you next.

I think this is an excellent response.

“there are a dozen or so trans kids playing high school sports, this is not an issue that affects you and its time we start asking why the guy who has repeatedly bragged about being sexually attracted to children wants to look at your kids genitals” is an entirely true thing you can say!

I just learned something today. I have always thought that FDR had polio. yet another good reason to follow @cdnhistoryehx.bsky.social

Craig Baird-Canadian History Ehx@cdnhistoryehx.bsky.social

On this day in 1921, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was stricken with a paralytic illness while at his summer home on Campobello Island in New Brunswick. It left him paralyzed from the waist down. Originally diagnosed with polio, it is believed he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Adopt! My wife ran a cat rescue for years and it was such a satisfying experience for her.

Kat Abughazaleh@katmabu.bsky.social

We just walked into an animal shelter because we drove by and saw they were having an adoption drive. Then the volunteers there told us that this sweetheart has been in the shelter for over a year. But they’re waiving the adoption fee for folks who come in to adopt Radar or another cat today.

Not a bad question to ask

My question for Justice Sotomayor on her claim that you cannot retroactively take something that you’ve earned away by constitutional amendment is whether she thinks the thirteenth amendment had the power to end slavery.

In other words, Ukraine is about to get dismantled. Aggression succeeds again. This doesn't sound like a great example to set, yes I am looking towards Taiwan.

I just tripped across this old thread this morning. It is a LONG, but really worth looking at if you want to understand how so often Indigenous People are marginalized. This is a specific result from Canada, but it is absolutely applicable to many other countries as well.

#MMIWG2S #MMIWG "#MMIWG2S #MMIWG This series of posts will cover the Calls for Justice published by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. I invite settler people to join me in consideration of what needs to be done and to think about why the Calls are needed.
