Friends of Ruby supports 2SLGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and social isolation. Meeting with their team was a great opportunity to learn about how Friends of Ruby's programs are helping youth build safe spaces, find community, and achieve their goals.

Did you hear about the law banning ice cream? Luckily it was found to be un-cone-stitutional! No better way to celebrate the end of August than enjoying some sweet treats in the setting sun. I had a great time chatting with constituents alongside MPP Adil Shamji at our Ice Cream Social yesterday.

Join me and @shamjiadil.bsky.social tonight for an Ice Cream Social! Cool treats are on the menu at the Angela James Arena parking lot at 165 Grenoble Drive tonight, August 24, from 5-7 PM. Drop by for a scoop (or two) and the chance to connect with our community. We hope to see you there!

Summer camp is fun—and it’s the staff who make it all possible! I visited Footprints Summer Camp at Donway Covenant United Church in Don Mills to speak with the Canada Summer Jobs students who are enriching the lives of children through learning, play, and adventure.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge is now open! This bridge, a huge step forward for Canadian commerce, is expected to generate billions of dollars in economic activity in the coming decades. A win for businesses, workers, and communities on both sides of the border.

Radar Park, located at 939 Eglinton Ave E., is now open! In addition to the new green space, the site provides a heritage hub inspired by Leaside’s local history. Joined neighbours, residents, and community partners to celebrate the official opening.

Last year, both the rate and severity of crime declined across the country. With new measures like the Bail and Sentencing Reform Act now in force, our government will continue working to keep Canadians safe and hold offenders accountable.

Life Lesson: never pass a lemonade stand without stopping. Today, I met four young entrepreneurs in north Leaside who serve the best lemonade in the neighborhood, provide stellar customer service, and have a very bright future. I will be going back!

The Canada Summer Jobs program gives young people invaluable work experience & a “behind-the-scenes” look at how organizations operate. Happy to visit @cfccreates.bsky.social to speak with summer students about their work, including in horticulture, administration, marketing & fundraising.

Through the Groceries and Essentials Benefit, a family of four will receive up to $1,890 this year. Our government is making sure those most affected by rising costs—including nearly 5 million residents in Ontario—can afford everyday essentials and get ahead.

When parents can access affordable, high-quality child care, they can build a better future for their families. That’s why our government is making an additional $5.4B investment over two years to help keep child care fees stable and affordable for families.

Happy Canada Day! More than any other day, we gather to celebrate what makes us Canadian: our proud history, our strong sense of community, and our enduring values. Wishing you a wonderful Canada Day.

It was a pleasure hosting members of the Don Valley West Constituency Youth Council last night. I have greatly valued hearing their perspectives on the issues that matter to all Canadians, such as Canada's place in the world, the cost of housing, and how we continue to build a better society.

I was delighted to receive the first copies of MEDA's report on implementation of the Canada-Africa Strategy and to discuss the development-trade nexus between Canada and African nations. 2/3

Promoting economic development in African countries is beneficial to those countries and to Canada. These relationships need to be mutually reinforcing where we learn and grow from each other.

We left no stone unturned in discussing the cost of housing and rent in Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park, municipal planning around Yonge and Eglington, crime in Leaside and Lawrence Park,... 2/3

...traffic congestion across our community, the provincial government's plans for the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, and the possibilities of a National Urban Park in Don Valley West. Looking forward to continue working alongside Mayor Chow to deliver results for our community and city.

It was great meeting with Yasmin Kara, CEO of SecurUs Community Safety Inc., to discuss how we can improve community safety alongside the work of law enforcement partners.

As the Member of Parliament for Don Valley West, I am proud to recognize June as Deafblind Awareness Month and to acknowledge the important work of CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS), whose national headquarters is located here in our community. 1/3

Deafblind Awareness Month is a time to recognize the contributions, resilience, and leadership of people who are Deafblind, while also raising awareness of the importance of communication access, inclusion, and independence. 2/3

Happy Pride Toronto! Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths and inclusivity one of our most enduring values. Proud to march alongside Liberals to keep the momentum going.

Another great day out in the neighbourhood! I was happy to spend Saturday hearing from neighbours and sharing our plans for Canada Day. I’m looking forward to see many of the people I spoke to at my annual Canada Day event at Leaside Park, on July 1st from 11am-2pm. I hope to see you there!

In the face of Russia's aggression and targeting critical infrastructure, Ukraine is defiantly defending itself and rebuilding. Joining the Ukraine Recovery Conference has left me inspired by Ukraine's courageousness and eager to see collective action to rebuild Ukraine. Slava Ukraini!

Canada’s international relationship are nurtured by teams of dedicated diplomats who work tirelessly, many in harms way. My participation in the Ukraine Recovery Conference wouldn’t be possible without Ambassador to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc, and Ambassador to Poland, Catherine Godin. Thank you!

While at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, I sat down with Oleksandr Karasevych, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. I reiterated Canada’s unwavering commitment to realizing Ukraine’s bright future, and our resolve to support Ukraine’s strong recovery.

To support Ukraine’s recovery, allies and partners need to be ready to quickly provide coordinated and practical economic and financial support. Happy to sit alongside Europe’s finance ministers to discuss how we can accelerate Ukraine’s integration into European and global financial systems.

It was an honour to join Oleg Shymanskyi, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine to hear from nearly 20 Ukrainian veterans on how we can ensure their reintegration and recovery as Ukraine rebuilds.

Congratulations to the students at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute that graduated yesterday, including Rameez Farook, this year’s recipient of my Member of Parliament Citizenship Award and bursary! Thank you to @stephaniebowman.bsky.socialfor sharing a congratulatory message on my behalf.

Canada’s commitment to Ukraine is a window of opportunity for sustainable peace. Grateful to see Canadian companies at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Poland supporting Ukraine with the necessary priorities - ammunition, air defences and drones, but also on the human dimension of recovery.

I continue to be humbled by the courage of the Ukrainian people. Grateful to be representing Canada at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk, Poland to discuss how we as allies can best support Ukraine's reconstruction.

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is helping those with vision loss live more independent, active lives. I had the pleasure of joining VLRC's virtual training session to share insights on how they could improve their engagement with governments and change public policy for the better.

Today, I had the privilege to welcome the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, to Toronto. This visit is an important step showing how far our countries have come together - and how much we will continue to grow.

Unfortunately, I am having to cancel my Coffee and Conversation event, scheduled tomorrow, June 24 from 7-8:30PM at Lawrence Park Community Church. Please stay tuned as we will be hosting many more in the future!

We celebrate all those in Myanmar and elsewhere that continue to advocate for democracy, human rights, justice, peace and federal unity. Congratulations to the Burmese Community and Myanmar Emergency Fund - Canada for a successful Multi-Ethnic Cultural Gathering.
