[1976] The Morecambe and Wise Show - "The Breakfast Sketch", the musical skit, which involves Eric and Ernie dancing around a kitchen to The Stripper.

James Blunt’s instincts are so unerringly wrong that I’m beginning to think that the person ‘You’re Beautiful’ was about must be ugly and horrible.

Can you help #DoctorWho #TargetBookClub? BBC Books had organised a Target Book Shop but it's fallen through. Do you know a cuddly trader who'd like a free table to sell Dr Who books? Maybe old Targets like the market stalls of our childhood?

After first hearing of it in the front matter of “Timewyrm: Apocalypse” in 1991, I’ve tonight finally seen “Penda’s Fen”. I weep for the BBC we have already lost. We’re never getting this sort of thing back.

Just over a week to go, and there’s still tickets left…!!! Honestly, this was the highlight of my Who Year last year, if you can make it then come on down - you won’t be disappointed 😊😊😊

The BFI Series C Blake's 7 event will be great obv. There's so many good episodes in that season, whatever they chose would still leave you disappointed at them missing out others. But the best episode is Rumours of Death. It and Terminal would have been an amazing big screen double bill.

I saw a play tonight. My friend Nigel was in it. He was so good that it's hard to choose a superlative to describe his performance. I did tell him how good he was and I meant it.

So when I found myself passing by her at the bar, I stopped her to tell her I couldn't pass her by without saying how brilliant she was. If you get the chance to tell someone how good they are at what they do - whatever it is that they do - tell them.

But also in the audience was someone who is not famous but was in one of the most respected BBC dramas ever and was one of the very very best people in it. And that drama was Tenko so it really wasn't short of quality actors.

Yes, Trump is a WHATEVER THE WORST WORD IS THAT YOU CAN SAY WITHOUT OFFENDING SOMEONE ELSE. But the best thing to do is not give him bandwidth. I'm aware I'm now doing that. But sometimes you have to. It's LOSE-LOSE, isn't it.

Woman at Whitechapel station just got out the lift on the platform and exclaimed "I don't want the platform, I want to get out. I feel like Humpty Dumpty."

I can only assume she's confused all the king's horses and all the king's men with the 10,000 men the Grand Old Duke of York had. But even then it was the 10,000 men themselves who were up when they were up and down when they were down, not Humpty Fucking Dumpty or the Duke of fucking York.

I would also like to add Justin Johnson’s priceless Brian Blessed story from the recording of the Cutaway Comics bonus commentary. BB is merrily TALKING when he stops dead- “OH SHIT! I FORGOT KENNETH BRANAGH’S COMING TO TEA!” Followed by a confused Sir Kenneth looming into view on the webcam…

As part of the TV Festival in Hastings Old Town on 11th October, I will be introducing an episode starring Denholm Elliott and Arthur Lowe, of the stunning 1970s anthology series Shades of Greene, along with a 1970 TV play by John le Carre!! It's amazing how much top quality British TV is forgotten.
