Baseball players make more money than most other Americans, and the fact that he returned to baseball specifically for health insurance is an indictment about how healthcare operates in this country.

wow what a touching and inspiring story that could literally only happen in america 🇺🇸🦅

After 26 years as an active fan of the Tennessee Titans, and also of the NFL, I’m out. I have better things to do with my time and attention than keep hoping beyond hope that the Titans will ever be a functional pro sports team.

I don’t remember watching much Winnie the Pooh, growing up. Now that I’ve got two kids and the 2/yr kiddo is watching a lot of Pooh Bear, I can conclude this: the 2011 movie is Pinnacle Pooh (TM).

So now TSA agents can be even crabbier to travelers. Great. I don’t care if they sit down, they can do their jobs while sitting.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

TSA says it is removing chairs at document checks in airports, requiring staff to stand for their shift. TSA explained the reason as twofold: to ensure its employees meet its fitness standards and to create an amiable environment for travelers.

Everybody’s hating on this, but it’s legitimately useful information. If a workplace or a hiring manager is going to be cracking down arbitrarily on petty stuff that doesn’t matter, that’s a very good thing to know!

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

Disagree. This is an arbitrary line in the sand, and bizarre to boot. It. Does. Not. Matter.

Plenty of human-written self-help and career development books do the exact same thing; take their concept and rehash it ad-nauseam. The *only* positive thing I'll say about this is that sometimes it takes rephrasing something in a different way for different people to understand something.

Honestly, "big-name studios can't agree on the premise of the Muppet Show" sounds like the premise of the Muppet Show

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

I asked my 8yo what The Muppet Show should be about. Musical guests, funny skits, singing. That’s already what the show is about! Just make that! She also suggested @alyankovic.bsky.social for a guest because “he’s basically a human Muppet.” That checks out!

There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)

[P] I might suggest “the Muppets must put on a variety show with a different guest host each week. Various shenanigans happen both on stage and backstage.”

My phone just informed me I averaged over eleven hours of daily screen time on it last week. I’d love to know what is being factored into that calculation. There’s no way.

I've now had kombucha for the first time today, and am disappointed to report that seemingly they aren't all nearly as sour & tart as the one I got. Apparently this one was a weird batch which is intensely more vinegary than normal.

fwiw this is terrible survey design if what you are trying to capture are addictive or counterproductive behaviors. it makes no distinction, for example, between a guy who spends a few hours each week playing madden and a guy who has no other interests other than obsessive gaming

Jimmy the House Spider update - after taking five days on a slow, laborious journey across our first floor ceilings, he is not to be found this morning. I wonder where he went.

In other news, some of my oldest’s friends have been traveling with their family this summer and have occasionally been sending her postcards. I looooove this. People should send postcards more often.

One of my cats is lazily hunting a spider this morning. Poor spider… having a regular morning and suddenly “What the f**k is that thing?! Why does it keep hitting me?! It just keeps following me oh man I’m gonna die…”
