Haven't done a reddit launch yet, so that might be next as well. Just to see if there is traction from over there.

Not only is it tackling the issues with the major players in terms of feeding content designed to engage and enrage. I also wanted to bring back some of the "glory days" of social media, where it was truly just friends catching up, posting photos / status and generally catching up online.

There are a lot of features planned to improve functionality and create more of a safe space for those wanting to simply quieten down how they use social media. - Business Accounts - Chat - Groups - Friendship Circles I'd love to hear anyone's feedback or ideas!

Apple Dev payment is failing on multiple cards, im going to assume it really want me to use a macbook (or apple device) and not be behind a VPN. Going to have to put it on the backburner for a day or so until i get a bit more time to get it done on the iPad.

Signed up for apple developer program for the first time. IOS apps here we come. Social network coming a long, just a few tweaks and bugs to go.

Looks like my little ui tweaked are due to my bad dark mode implementation. Really have to sit down and clean it up pretty launch. Apart from that, most things work fine. #expo #superbase #buildinpublic

first build up and running as a beta on the play store. So many issues to fix, but the main story here is just how easy Expo is making things. I have a few app ideas that I'll migrate over from complex build systems to Expo just to save a lot of hassle.

Working on this new #expo app, a social media app with no algorithms, everything time based, 2 way validation for friend attachments. Gemini 3 is powering through the boilerplate which me just doing the checks and wiring. Hopefully ready in a week or so. Landing page I'm hoping goes up today!

In light of the Social Media ban for Australian Kids I'm working on what I think a good social media network should be, Connections only, no sharing other people posts, no algorithm only time based posts and events that are designed to be private.

For a v1 (or better yet beta) release all I'm looking at is Timeline, Photo and Text Posts, Events, Friends List (with notes on each friend) Other features can roll later. but the main selling point is still - no algo - easy - personable - fast and free no idea how to monetize though.

Stack is #expo as a mobile framework, #supabase for all the backend (for quick bootstrap) #nativewind / #tailwind for styling. Using #gemini to get things bootstrapped as quickly as possible. Will go back and refine once I have a app ready to deploy and get some testing done #buildinpublic

This is going to include friend requests only being available in person, no searching of "friends" on the platform at all, to create the connection you will need to be either in person or at least texting / messaging. This makes it more personal and beneficial to have a real world connection.

#gemini in Zed is such a nice integration, been swapping between it and antigravity and I think I prefer zed (even though I'm paying for ai). Just needs autocomplete support (edit predictions) and I could pop over there full time.

looking at react to build a new app, thinking of avoiding #nextjs simply becuase i don't want to use vercel infra. Is React Router the next logical framework? or use something like Expo even if im not building a mobile app? #frontend #react

Took the time yesterday to do some small updates to affiliate linking through one if my sites. Realised how badly is set things up years ago. Trying to avoid a rewrite but same with all my projects I always feel I need to build from scratch.

#obsidian bases has been awesome, still waiting on filtering and kanban view and then all my dev task management can just be in plain markdown.

Has anyone played with #Windsurf yet? I've just been hearing about rate limiting and thought i might wait until things settle down before giving it a red hot go.

Screwing around with Gemini CLI a bit more, got a number of ideas to build out, got a good AGENTS.md I've been working on so im hoping i just need to add in the idea brief and the rest is super straight forward.

Been a while. Life has taken priority but managed to roll out a new there for my retro app. Heaps of apps in progress along with some other exciting stuff Will try and post some statuses and ideas when I get around to it.

Followed all the steps, set up in my GCP project, permissions and service account are all set up. Still getting an error. Has anyone come across this one before. I feel I'm missing a simple step, but have run through permissions twice now. #revenuecat #googleplay #android

The key file is the one from GCP, has all the right data. So not just a bad key. I haven't uploaded the app to Google Play yet.

Astro is pretty cool. Chucking together a quick demo using htmx as well and it's pretty powerful in how simple it is. Partials and server side rendering make it pretty quick to whip up a webapp.

Just gave the new AI features in @zed.dev a go, so much better than the other apps this morning. Tied really well in, not just a VS Code clone with extensions. Going to throw some harder stuff at it, but so far so good. I might be changing default IDE for the first time in 5ish years.

Just tested out Void Editor. No idea if they qa'd it or not but the prompts don't want to edit in file, just chat response. Autocomplete is same as continue.dev with the same ollama models. Not sure why vscode forks are all the rage, but this could of literally been an extension, not a new app.

continue.devContinueAmplified developers, AI-enhanced development · The leading open-source AI code assistant. You can connect any models and any context to build custom autocomplete and chat experiences inside the IDE

Just finished creating my Google Play developer account. Once step closer to launching a new project. only billing and some UI/UX to go now. #buildinpublic

Slowly realising my "fun" css frontend to my Retro project look like crap. I'm no designer but I'll slap some bootstrap on it and see if I can pretty it up. Waiting for the day AI can just design it for me so I can just write code.

Built my last project with Flutter after getting rid of #Nativescript. But checking out #Expo this morning and it looks pretty straight forward. Anyone had any issues/experience with it? I don't want to think its the solution to everything if it has the same issues as #Flutter.

Need to actually come up with a marketing plan as well sometime this week. I'm assuming the recommendation is to just ask AI? Or does someone have a cheat sheet I can look at?

What's up with the requirement to add in a D-U-N-S number to Google play, never published an app but being in Australia it goes through someone else and I need to update it all. What a mess around #buildinpublic #android

I finally got around to posting about my new Junior Full Stack Dev onboarding project. Its been sitting in drafts for ages, still a bit rough (I'm not a good writer). But it's good to get this stuff on paper eventually. robdunn.dev/posts/new-ju... #management #webdev #onboarding #engmanagement

robdunn.devMy New Junior Developer Onboarding Project and ProcessWe used to throw junior developers into the deep end of the codebase without any guidance. This led to frustration and low productivity. We decided to create a new process that would help junior devel...

Been a while since I've been here. Projects / Code / Blogs took a massive step back whilst I prioritized family stuff. Hopefully more time on my hands now to finish all those projects and get some more stuff written.

Ollama seems to be losing its gpu acceleration with amd and falling back to CPU. Or just simply not becoming available after some idle time.

Server (behind Tailscale and Traefik) has simply decided not to allow for HTTP(s) traffice, so no access to my remote Code server or AI service. No idea why, when or how it happened. Not a massive priority to fix though.

About to start looking into implementing RevenueCat for payments in my flutter app (with NestJS Backend). I'm assuming its good, does anyone else have recommendations? I need the easiest thing possible (because I'm nearing app building burnout) #saas #buildinpublic #flutter

Google login now working in flutter. Now just storing the jwt and attaching it to all requests to the api and we are in a beta. Starting to get excited. #flutter #buildinpublic

Flutter auth ended up being harder than expected. Not using firebase as I've got my own API, between different certs hidden around the place and error messages that say nothing it's safe to say I'll be working on this for a while. #flutter #nestjs

App is feature complete. (in terms of what it needs to do). Next step, #Auth with #Flutter and #NestJS. Seen some good resources around so I'm hoping that its going to be straight forward. Then onto monetization with RevenueCat (i think the best solution) Not long till launch now #buildinpublic

Got new business cards designed by @camilajamescj.bsky.social. Turned out great, new logo and everything. I haven't even thought about a logo for this project in 10 or so years so its always good for a bit of a refresh! Really happy with the result, makes the side project kinda "official"
