No doubt about it. And I’m a Lions fan! Dan Campbell’s recklessness should have resulted in a loss but he lucked out. And I’m a Campbell fan too. C’mon man.
The Green Bay Packers did not lose to the Detroit Lions solely because of the officiating on Sunday afternoon at Ford Field in Detroit. But the referees certainly had an impact on the game.
I thought “reckless” Dan had learned his lesson last year, but I guess I was wrong. He’s done a fantastic job in so many aspects and deserves a lot of credit, but he should have lost that game yesterday and is damn lucky to have come away with a victory.
Whether you trust the odds or trust your gut, there is no denying that critical decisions at pivotal moments can win or lose you a football game. Football is a game of risk, but some coaches try to minimize it while others try to capitalize on it. Dan Campbell and the Detroit #Lions have... #NFL

All owners say they want to win, but few really mean it. Chris Ilitch is certainly not interested in winning and I even doubt Sheila Hemp is. These are business people who are able to maximize profit by doing just enough to maintain fan interest. To them, spending the extra money to win is wasteful

Agreed! This was the main reason we were never really in the Bills game. This, along with the defense, needs to get better.
On SideLion Report: The #Lions have scored exactly 31 points in all three games despite sluggish starts on offense in each of them. #OnePride #SideLion sidelionreport.com/slow-starts-...
IMO the defense has shown some improvement but 3 big “ifs” remain: If Branch can return at something near his former level, and if they can get Joey Porter or someone of that caliber, and if the rest of the current defense can stay relatively injury-free, I think by playoff time they can compete.
Reactions of the Lions vs. Jets: Is Detroit improving enough on defense? Both Detroit Lions wins can definitely be categorized as "ugly wins." Against both the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, Detroit blew a two-point lead. Both opponents—despite very little success early in the game—were…
I thought the defense showed some improvement. Sheppard stayed away from the blitz until he needed it in the 4th qtr & there weren’t as many receivers roaming free as in the Bills game. They still have a long way to come. Fewer penalties & good offensive work on 1st & 2nd down. It’s progress!
Are the Detroit Lions back on track after a win over the New York Jets?
I say this is likely the case, and I feel bad for the young man and the team. Though Campbell and Holmes must publicly speak as positive as possible about his return, they better be planning for the alternative and get serious about moving on to find an adequate replacement.
Fact or Fiction: Detroit Lions Kerby Joseph Will Never Play Again in NFL www.si.com/nfl/lions/on...
When does Brad Holmes step up to the reality that it’s likely that Kerby Joseph never recovers from his injury and Brian Branch might never be the same? I feel like Holmes, and Campbell for that matter, are in a deep state of denial about those two players.
Detroit Lions Defense Has Had Historically Bad Start to 2026 NFL Season www.si.com/nfl/lions/on...
If not the Lions, I hope the Bills go all the way. No fan base deserves it more than Buffalo’s.

I like this take. Sheppard’s blitzing strategy seems to be an act of desperation. From everything I’ve seen so far this year, when they let their front four do their job and let the rest of the defense do theirs they are much better off.
Fixing the Lions: 3 ideas to help Detroit’s struggling defense after the first two weeks Offering some feasible solutions for the Detroit Lions after the team has struggled badly on defense for the first two weeks of the 2026 season
Having watched the NFL for over 50 years, I felt the same way at that moment and still feel so. For those who blame our offensive and defensive coordinators for our current problems, let’s remember that Johnson and Glenn let a big halftime lead slip away when we were on the precipice of success.
THIS DAN CAMPBELL QUOTE IS WILD LOOKING BACK: “This may have been our only shot.” — Dan Campbell after the #Lions’ NFC Championship loss in 2024. Detroit went on to miss the playoffs last season. Campbell’s words feel a whole lot different now. #aipropx
Fans “demanding accountability” is like the hens demanding the fox leave them alone. The players work for the coach, the coach works for the GM, and the GM works for the owner. I’ll believe fans have any power when I see an empty stadium on Sunday.

This is absolutely a no-win situation for the Bills. No matter how they handled this, they’d be skewered.
As the Buffalo Bills unveiled their new Highmark Stadium ahead of Thursday night's opener against the Detroit Lions, a group of local activists has voiced outrage over one glaring omission from the team's Wall of Fame: O.J.
Ok, he’s not Aaron Glenn. And many of our troubles last year and this year are on defense. But he doesn’t have his two best d-backs and I suspect he never will, at least not in top form. Brad Holmes has failed in finding adequate replacements and until that occurs we can’t fairly judge Shephard.
Despite the Detroit Lions season being just two games old, fans are not happy with defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard.
I had the Bills 34-10 in this one, but was hoping my Lions would make it more competitive, and they did. So for me this loss was expected and I believe ultimately useful because it really confirmed that the team is solid except for the defensive backfield. They’ve got to find a way to fix it!

Our President is a serial abuser. His entire adult life, he has abused contractors who built his buildings whom he stiffed, he tried to execute the Central Park Five, he’s verbally abused political opponents and reporters and, of course, he has physically abused women and presumably children.
This man is entirely fecal. There is nothing about him or his works that isn't utterly shit. And we elected him to lead our nation twice.
Emerged? Umm, I think we’ve known this now going back to game two of last season! If this doesn’t get fixed and ends up being the main reason the team doesn’t get to a Super Bowl, Brad Holmes will be vilified by the fans and rightly so.
The Detroit Lions' secondary has emerged as a major question despite the team's win over the New Orleans Saints.
I sure hope the Lions aren’t putting too many eggs in the “we’ll be getting Branch and Joseph back” basket. I say plan for and act upon the expectation that neither of these guys will return, and if that proves to not be true, that’s icing on the cake of having a strong defensive backfield.
Offseason In Review: Detroit Lions
I’ve always been impressed with the Michigan Wolverines’ ability to improve week to week during the season. Going back to the Schembechler days it’s been a characteristic that each team has possessed with just a few exceptions. Yesterday was another example. Way to go guys - congrats on a great win!
I’ve been saying we need a new iteration of Jack and Bobby Kennedy. Those guys fought as dirty as necessary when they had to.
I agree. Democrats are trying to do things within the rules and the right channels. Republicans just do shit and if they're caught, the courts take forever and there's usually a quid pro quo or a cushy deal made.

www.rawchili.com/nfl/595308/ I send out a heartfelt congratulations to this young man. He started his career with the Lions with some suspensions for obvious poor choices but through it all I kept hearing good things about his humanitarian instincts. I’m glad he is getting positive media attention!
