I’m reading #PatRobertson ‘s 1991 “The New World Order” (as research for my next book). Since I have to endure it, here is a thread of the best of the worst for you to enjoy. CW: Early ‘90s evangelical racism & supremacy, xenophobia, prob homo/transphobia

As I was listening to The Great Course’s “Great Villains of History,” I didn’t learn much about King Leopold of Belgium, but I definitely only saw his @extracredits.bsky.social bean form. 🤣 Back the next calendar! - “History Happens Every Day” www.kickstarter.com/projects/ext...

Berry picking. A rite of passage for every Oregonian, and the best ADHD chore. Getting the dopamine not only from filling the boxes, but nothing is really regimented and you can go up and down the row as you wish.

Once again, @matthewkrol.nebula.tv proves to be our kind of people. I read my first grader my velveteen cover 40th anniversary edition Bunnicula during spoopy season last year. He was less than impressed, but it holds up fairly well. Celery stalks and vegetable juice at midnight!

Reminder: In Virginia, you can register to vote on Election Day through same-day voter registration. This lets you register in person and cast a provisional ballot if you missed the regular registration deadline. Your vote will be counted once eligibility is confirmed, so don’t sit this one out!

I wish Charlie Kirk a speedy (but pain-filled) recovery (with medication that only partially takes effect)… …only because the last thing the country needs right now is MAGA martyrs.

Trying to decide if I will refuse to take money from cops or ICE agents at my upcoming craft fair events, or take their money and donate 100% of it to refugee and immigration lawyers and charities.

If anyone is interested about safety in Portland, I live in the Metro area and have been through Downtown many times this weekend for Rose City ComicCon. The ONLY time I have felt unsafe was when I was walking down a flight of steep and slippery stairs to the light rail station.

When the bag you came with is, technically, big enough to hold everything, but the 1” strap is digging into your shoulder… what can you do but buy a bigger, more comfortable bag? Nerds have the best merch. #RoseCityComicCon

The first grader is watching his YouTube next to me as I rewatch “A Skeptic’s Guide to American History” on Prime’s Great Courses add on. Given the Smithsonian’s new management, thought it apropos. Hopefully, he’s getting a little of it. Always ask questions, little guy. Raising the iconoclasts!

AFAIK, members of the class are still being determined for this case, so if you think you are one of the affected authors, you should send your contact info to the Plaintiffs' legal team if you would also like to financially ruin the entire AI industry: www.lieffcabraser.com/anthropic-au...

AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.

@skyejethani.bsky.social Isn’t this one of your hills to die on? 😁

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses. Real buttons are sooooooo back baby!

Look at those beautiful butt-nuggets! 😍 The girls are producing again! (A heads-up to those who are new-this-year chicken parents: They usually stop, or greatly reduce, producing for about three months due to short days and long nights.)

Would not have guessed this was Jake’s makeup. His Dobie-Lab grandparent’s genes are definitely dominant to fight their way through all that Terrier. But still. He’s 95% good boi, 5% chaos monkey, and 100% loved.

In order to not have to think about the entire weight of the federal government coming down on less than 200 US citizens (one of them my very own child), here is a sleepy chicken outside my kitchen window that she has made very dirty. Bluesky, meet Aloy. #ChickensOfBluesky
