I mean if anything the whole measure seems like kind of an assault on representative democracy. We vote for people to actually learn about the budget and make good decisions, an end run around that makes no sense to me.

It's not just me asking about the dark money in the Dumb Two Cents Thing™ campaign, @wweek.com tried during their endorsement interview, but got nowhere.

Terry J. Harris@trryjhrrs.bsky.social

Not arguing about that. The campaign appears to have literally ONE donor supplying 95% of the funding - East County Rising Action Fund - an organization spending more on this campaign than TWICE it's entire org budget according to its last 990. Where is this money coming from? It's all dark money.

How is this "in-kind" nonsense legal in Oregon? From last week, here's a nice round number of $25k of "in-kind" support for "campaign consulting" for "General Operational Expenses" purposes. Even in old-school Baltimore campaigns, "walking-around money" had more documentation than this.

Quick update on this. According to a filing yesterday, East County Rising dropped another quarter of a million of dark money into the Dumb Two Cents Thing™. Dark money is now 95% of the $1.1M Yes campaign. Anyway, thoughts and prayers for your YouTube watching over the next week.

A million dollars of dark money has purchased this post complaining about lobbyists.

This, in a letter to the Oregonian today from the chief petitioner of the "participatory budgeting" initiative, inadvertently demonstrates why it is such terrible policy. It's NOT "budgeting" if you can't say (or don't understand) where the money comes from.

Where is YES getting close to a million dollars of "In-Kind" contributions? Almost entirely from East County Rising Action Fund, which is not required to disclose donors. (Someday, Oregon should really close these reporting loopholes.)

But then you pit the neighborhoods against each other in some sort of to-be-determined citywide vote.

your2centspdx.bsky.social@your2centspdx.bsky.social

More than 7,000 cities around the world have used participatory budgeting to give residents a say in how public dollars are spent. Your 2 Cents is working to make that a reality in Portland. The people who know what our neighborhoods need are the people who actually live here, NOT lobbyists.

Hey check out our totally grassroots website that is completely sheeeet! And made if AI farming 🤣🤣🙄

Chelly's been doing this thing where she reports on "someone(s)" putting up love notes for PDX ICE, like they were sweet gestures of support from community randos. But Chelly is close friends w one of them - Audra Price - who's connected to some of the most violent extremists in the area. thread

Chelly Boufferache, it should be noted, is effectively a Proud Boy videographer who's last boyfriend was a very racist PB named Ace James. She feeds her footage to Andy Ngo & others, who use it to incite moral panics & vigilantism. Her footage was in the FOX News segment that caught Trump's eye.

The Home2Suits has fallen and you’re not getting that signing bonus for another 4.5 years. Ass. It’s all ass, dude.

Minneapolis, MN - Very developing situation here. FPS agents ran into the hotel. Tear gas deployed. Hotel patrons forced to put their hands up. One agent’s nose bloodied.

It was kind of a tossed-off gag in a blog last week but the ICE/CBP forces in Minnesota really are an expansion team made up of the most readily available players in a depressingly glutted violence worker marketplace. Not even quad-A types. Independent league guys with well-known makeup issues.

Federal officers just came in and cleared the protest with tear gas. One officer asked press why we didn’t call 911 when the protesters were destroying the hotel and told us that we are bad Americans. Full video to come on @statuscoupnews.bsky.social

@backroll23.bsky.social what the fuck is Gluesenkamp Perez doing??

Ken Klippenstein@kenklippenstein.bsky.social
