My renderer's template system came together surprisingly fast, using a quick-n-dirty RTF-ish file format. But the rub is that I hit its limitations already so I'm moving over to a more robust (and readable) XML-based format. Plus I don't have to clean up my old parser's regex now :)

All my rabbit trails are fully explored, so I get to revisit my renderer's templating system - specifically the 2D RTF implementation (I want the first milestone to have an early Dwarf Fortress vibe)...it's going to have a blend of valid RTF and comment- and Angular-style bindings.

And now I'm finally getting into the big challenge of the new renderer - how async can I make it?

Woohoo, my renderer is drawing again! Brushes are still broken, and compositing needs full optimization as does async modes, but at least the design makes more sense and is going to pay off when I redo the databinding refreshes.

What an utterly perfect spring day...that I spent inside, rewriting my engine's configuration and rendering designs. Attacking the problem from the user side this time around and let it dictate more of the structure....config was easy, but rendering has several major questions left to address.
