“What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn’t have any doubt — it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn’t want to go anywhere else” - Hal Boyle

The Hudson River was once teeming with American shad. 🎣 Today, the population is so depleted that all fishing for Hudson River shad is prohibited. The shad deserve a future, and Riverkeeper will keep fighting for it. #hudsonriver #americanshad

Newtown Creek has a long history as one of NYC’s most heavily industrialized waterways. Today, we have an opportunity to imagine a different future. It was great to get out with Assembly Members Gallagher and Valdez to talk about a shared vision for a thriving, accessible Newtown Creek.

🌕 Take a look at the moon tonight. It’s the Sturgeon Full Moon. Named for the Atlantic sturgeon, one of the Hudson River’s oldest and most remarkable fish. When you look up at the full moon tonight, remember what’s swimming through the river below it. #sturgeonfullmoon #atlanticsturgeon

Westchester has a dirty secret and it's ending up in the Hudson. Every year, the county dumps more than 1 billion gallons of partially treated sewage into the Hudson each year. We deserve better. Read more on holding #Westchestercounty accountable: https://ow.ly/gHTc50Zy5HM #hudsonriver #sewage

Riverkeeper President Tracy Brown testified before the Westchester County Board of Legislators, urging county leadership to act. All of Westchester and cities and towns up and down the Hudson deserve clean, healthy, flood-resilient waterways, and it starts with our elected leaders stepping up.

Over the course of five weeks from July to August, Kingston YMCA Farm Project students engaged in an experiential learning course with Riverkeeper to understand the source of drinking water. We explored where our water comes from, where it goes, and what happens to it along its path.
