Great passage from #TheExpanse: The sad fact of the human species that he understood so well was that you could never overcome tribalism and jingoism with an argument. Tribalism was an irrational position, and it was impossible to defeat an irrational position with a rational argument.

Seems we might have a problem with the presidential pardon system….

Republicans have long made a major issue that George Soros has been a donor to Democrats, spinning insane lies about him to make that a bad thing Elon Musk is a *much* bigger donor to Republicans and there's no need to invent lies about him. Just tell the truth about the evil shit he says and does

US journalist in Kyiv faces White House online attacks while under fire from Putin’s missiles.

Anonymous@youranoncentral.bsky.social

Russia has hit Kyiv, Ukraine, with at least 6 ballistic missiles within the last 30 minutes, targeting 3 million civilians and infrastructure, after meeting with Trump's lapdog Witkoff, who praised Putin as a humanitarian and saluted him on behalf of the rogue United States.

He. Doesn’t. Actually. Care. About. You.

JD - I've got 15 free minutes before my son's hockey practice ends, so let me see how many of Trump's enrichment schemes you didn't see that I can remind you of. 1/ First one is easy: Trump has executed over 30,000 stock trades, many on inside information, netting him millions.

The "Party of Reagan" has the United States siding with Russian aggression against NATO allies and a brutal war on a European democratic US partner. Yes, the whole party. If they didn't, they would impeach and remove the president who is blatantly breaking US law to help fund Russia's war effort.

How are these people not embarrassed…

Hard to overstate how much Hegseth's execution stream mirrors the U.S. military's traditional description of ISIS propaganda: broadcast killings designed to send a message, strike fear and create a social media spectacle. Will almost certainly be repurposed by online terror cells

My career-limiting flaw in corporate America was I could never be this big of a kiss ass

RFK Jr. kisses Trump's ass: I discovered a self-effacing man of superior intelligence, of empathy and compassion, with an encyclopedic grasp of issues in molecular detail, and most of all, a near reckless courage.

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."

Someone should tell Trump it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."

A great story as long as the listener doesn’t understand how these things actually work…

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

A few weeks ago I shared my view that prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket should be made illegal. Today it was announced that Kalshi is now taking bets on FDA drug approvals and clinical trial outcomes. These markets are metastasizing and nothing good can come of it.

Early in Trump's first term, David Frum wrote that every time Trump and MAGA say "the deep state" you should hear "rule of law," then it'll make more sense. That stuck with me. And I thought of it again as an unqualified and unconfirmed director of national intelligence conducts political purges.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

BREAKING on MS NOW: Dozens of intel officials have started receiving notice of their terminations under Trump's unqualified acting DNI, Bill Pulte. The individuals are officials "who they believe are deep state" and whom leadership claims have not provided complete pictures of available intel.

The Republican Party in a nut shell. The atrocities and crimes are all fine if the rich make a lot of money.

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.

The White House intervened to get a $620 million deal for a company tied to Don Jr. The request was made by top aide Peter Navarro. Of the dozens of companies the Pentagon was considering funding at the time, the Don Jr.-linked company was the only deal initiated by a top aide to Trump.

Only two teams in #NHL have regulation wins in at least half their game. #GoAvsGo 40 RW in 68 games. And Sabres 37 RW in 70 games. Kinda crazy.

A multimillionaire thinks that paying down the national debt is so important that all the poors should get into the workforce earlier, work in it harder, and stay in it later to help pay it off. It's the only possible way to do it!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Dr Oz: "If we could get the average American to start working a year earlier, right out of high school, or a year later -- not retire -- or work better during their lifetime because they're healthy, it would generate about $3 trillion to the US economy. That would more than remove the debt."

So just today I’ve seen the Trump admin dump on rural America, on states rights (voting), and gun rights. GOP has changed, but yet the base continues to support them. 🤷‍♂️
