I think the main criticism I have of Bluesky PBC is that it (a) thinks and acts like a company that makes money (b) makes no money Kind of the worst of both worlds, really

Are you or your company working on anything related to OAuth/OIDC or building anything that needs trust & safety (moderation)? If so you can currently hire me: emelia@brandedcode.com I'm a freelancer on US eastern time. #oauth #oidc #hireme

The way you can tell that Bluesky is very normie is that there is only ONE of today's RCEs in the trending topics

I'm excited to announce that the PLC Organization now has a statute! And a bank account! And a @standard.site publication! All the important stuff. The PLC Org is an independent Swiss Association meant to operate the PLC directory, which collects and distributes signed updates to atproto accounts.

Hmm. Just noticed that reposts from accounts with a label don't get treated the same as posts from accounts with that label. Seems maybe not ideal, for example when the label in question is 'spreads misinformation'?

I find it amusing that in Aaron's latest Moderation Discourse Thread his replies to himself end hidden behind the 'show more replies' gate. I honestly still don't know how that thing works - is it because his account has a label that I have set to 'warn'?

Guy working on AI: "yes, we really believe the thing we are doing has a 10% chance of killing us all" Average AI user: "I don't understand why people get so upset by AI 🤷" y'all, don't go after individual people for using AI, but I am tired of hearing surprise about why it might not be popular

This is a story about men harassing women. It's being sold to the public as a story about conservatives protecting women, but it's the opposite of that.

Yeah a lot of that will get removed once we finish moving to OAuth on the bsky app - proxying everything through the PDS, read after write in the PDS, etc. They were early decisions that are no longer needed, but require us to do a suite of updates on our app

I would like to make the case that it is long past time to support edits because the current Bluesky appview behavior is *already* enabling one of the worst-case scenarios: edit a popular post to be some vile racist shit (plenty of ways to do this already), people on the Bluesky app have no way of

way that's exposing a weird edge case? Some fuckery being pulled in my PDS? (which is ironically what my article was about) Whatever it is, the fact that this can happen is potentially super bad.

FWIW, if I click on the links above in the Blacksky (web) app, the Bluesky one gets re-written to a blacksky.community URL (makes sense) so I can see that loaded via Blacksky, I get the same (wrong) article with handle and did, so it doesn't look like some weird handle resolution going bad

The whole thread is different on the two Apps, but with my post attached, and I have no idea why. Inconsistencies between AppViews? Something to do with the Microcosm tools being used in the Blacksky client for stuff Blacksky hasn't backfilled? @standard-reader.app making their posts in some odd

But then I open it in the Blacksky (web) app, and *this* is in my notifications. Notice that it doesn't @ me, but, it's in the same position in my notifications, so it's clearly *supposed* to be the same post. Even has my 🩷 on it.

What is Bluesky PBC doing to try to keep bad internet bills like KOSA from passing and actively harming your users -- as well as degrading the experience here? And, relatedly, why is Bluesky PBC enforcing age verification in Texas, whose law doesn't require apps to verify ages (just app stores)?

Lately, the atproto feed just swings back and forth between really cool and fun stuff and people saying mind-bendingly incorrect stuff. I miss how it was a few months ago 😦
