Maithreyi is headlining the next poetry night at the Talisman event, Swansea, and I thought I would take part in the open mic later in the evening. So I managed to obtain some of my own poetry collections in order to choose a few pieces to read 🙂 #booksky

Weirdly, my account was labelled as 'spam' because I posted a link to one of my free ebooks... I had to appeal the decision. Daily, I grow more and more disenchanted with social media 😒

Crepuscularks and Phantomimes - ebook FREE until October 27th #booksky October is the spooky month. Therefore I will be making some of my ebooks free, namely those that are concerned with eerie, weird, ghostly and demonic fiction... www.amazon.com/dp/B086JDQM38

Delighted with the Introduction that A.A. Attanasio has just sent me for my novella, THE DANGLE CUSTARD. My book will be published in December. It's the 4th volume in the "Knick Knack" series, which is now a permutational trilogy. I believe it is the first ever permutational trilogy #booksky

It doesn't matter in the slightest, but I think it's a shame that Thomas Pynchon didn't get the prize this year. I guess at this rate he never will. I am not saying he's objectively more important than any other winner over the past ten years but to me he is what literature is all about #booksky

If I push a drumstick up one of my nostrils, it makes a sound like a swearing cow. This is because inside my nose there's a moo cuss membrane.

Currently reading this novel by Julian Maclaren-Ross. It's very evocative of late 1930s Britain, a rather grubby stuffy place. But I am even more pleased to have picked up Arnold Bennett's most famous novel yesterday. Bennett is one of my favourite early 20th Century British authors 🙂 #booksky

Two years ago I sent my last copy of one of my books to a reviewer who was keen to review it. But they never reviewed it, so I took the unprecedented step of asking for the book back. And it arrived today (with a dog ear in page four). It's a collection of horror and dark fantasy stories 👻 #booksky

Came back home after a little holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday and I found a package waiting for me. Inside were copies of the latest issue of NIGHTMARE ABBEY with my story 'Whipping Ghost' included 👻👻👻 #booksky

Just finished reading this. It's not quite like other Simenon books. It feels as if he took greater care to be more 'literary' and his prose as a result is somehow less fluid. But it's still magnificent, of course. In tone and style, Simenon's 'roman durs' often resemble the work of Camus #booksky

To celebrate my 60th birthday, I have made ten of my ebooks free until September 28th #booksky *CTHULHU WANTS YOU *ARMS AGAINST A SEA *PASTEL WHIMSIES *STARFISH WISH *CREPUSCULARKS AND PHANTOMIMES *THE SUNSET SUITE *THE GHOST LOSER * BETTER THE DEVIL *SANGRIA IN THE SANGRAAL *THE BROTHEL CREEPER

My two MEGAPACK collections from Wildside Press. Both are fairly hefty collections. 48 stories in total, which is about 4% of my total short story output to date. There will be a third volume at some point 🙂 #booksky

Publication Day... My first MEGAPACK® collection was published four years ago. There will be three in total. This is the second and I think it's the best of them. The nicest thing for me about the MEGAPACK® series is appearing alongside Ray Bradbury, Fritz Leiber, Fredric Brown, etc #booksky 🙂

The story I wrote for the tribute anthology to Charlie Chaplin has been accepted. My tale concerns Chaplin when he was a Music Hall star. He played the Palace Theatre in Swansea. I took this photo of the venue. TRAMPS, SEDUCERS AND DICTATORS will be published by Bedford Square Publishers 🙂 #booksky

My second Fantastic MEGAPACK® collection, published by Wildside Press, should be out in a few days. I have just seen the cover and the interior. My first MEGAPACK® collection was published four years ago. Presumably the third will be out in 2030, assuming the human race is still around... #booksky

Reached the 30,000 word mark on KNICK KNACK PADDY. Only 8000 words to go. The novella has gone off in a very absurd direction. I know that all the novellas in this series so far have been absurd but this one seems to want to outdo them :-) #booksky

Reached the 20,000 word mark on KNICK KNACK PADDY, so only 18,000 words to go. I need to gird my loins to ask a writer I admire to consider writing an introduction for it. I did that three times last year, and I have done it once already this year, and it always feels unbearably cheeky :-) #booksky

I often hear the statement, "Reading is dead," but I am reading more now than ever before. So as far as I'm concerned, it's not dead. "Ah, but you aren't everyone," is the common retort to this. So what? I have absolutely no interest in being everyone. I am myself and that's good enough #booksky

Unless I am quite mistaken, it appears that THE DANGLE CUSTARD has been accepted for publication and will be released before the end of the year. It will join the other 'Knick Knack' books as part of the permutational sequence 🙂 #booksky

Finished writing 'Crescents in Ascension'. I started writing it on the first day of February. Anyway, it's done now. It's another set of flash fictions linked by a frame tale, but the frame tale is embedded in the flash fictions themselves. 95 flash fictions in total :-) #booksky

Happy First Anniversary to a pair of my books, published exactly one year ago by Eibonvale Press. ROBOTS IN LOVE is one of my very few stories set in outer space. THAT OTHER EGYPT is a linked series of fictions themed on Egypt. Ten stories in total, though one is actually a play. #booksky

Many thanks to Dave Mitchell of Incunabula Press for arranging the show last night and for inviting me to do a reading. It's always a pleasure to read with a good PA system. I read extracts from the three Knick Knack novels and also poems from my Songs Gone Wrong book 🙂🎶🎵 #booksky

Today I will be attempting to promote the three volumes of the "Knick Knack Trilogy" in an art gallery. I have no idea how that's going to work out, but I will find out in due course 🙂 #booksky

There are no such things as "influencers". There are wannabe manipulators, prancers, strutters, twonkies, twerps, gimps, dangle custards, chimpbuckets, nincompoops, bunny grunters, plonkers, laminated gunkflaps and juddering blubberhacks. But influencers don't exist.

Finished writing THE DANGLE CUSTARD, the fourth volume in the expanding "Knick Knack Trilogy" (which is now a permutational trilogy) and emailed it to my publisher. Also emailed it to the author I am hoping will write an introduction for it :-) #booksky

I have embarked on a mission to read all the short fiction of J.G. Ballard. This will involve re-reading many stories, but others will be new to me, including the story I have just finished, 'Myths of the Near Future', both a self-parody and a genuine expansion of Ballardian obsessions #booksky
