Outside of tech there has been no financial payoff to US companies for using AI, now viewed as a margin-hurting cost center, as VC-backed firms burn more tokens (Torsten Slok/Apollo Global Management) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink

Despite the significant investments ploughed into artificial intelligence it has provided “zero payoff” to corporate America outside of technology, according to Apollo's Chief Economist Torsten Slok. Read more: bloom.bg/3UO2c30 📷: Victor J. Blue/Bloomberg

It is disgraceful that Andy Burnham took an hour out to appear on Gogglebox just to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. If he's going to do a TV show he should do what I did and pocket £1.5million for eating some kangaroo bollocks.

Man I hope this comes to pass, but Wildwood isn’t looking like it’s gonna hit big 😩

Travis Knight says there are multiple upcoming projects in development for LAIKA: “We have stories that take the medium of animation into places that it's never gone before, stories that challenge us in different ways.”

Ai isn’t a tool, it’s a thief

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Keep it going folks, 50 mill opening would be best!!!

LAIKA’s ‘Wildwood’ is tracking a $15-20M domestic box office debut after a skyrocket of pre-sale tickets. This will potentially make LAIKA’s biggest opening weekend ever. (Source: @GlobalBoxOffice on X)

🚨 OOPS: A Republican congressional candidate in Minnesota accidentally published what appears to be an AI prompt on his campaign website admitting Trump is “not popular” and instructing the campaign to avoid focusing on him.

But of course. (Worth remembering that Trump remains the only president of the modern era who thinks it is appropriate to interfere in other countries' elections by endorsing candidates).

At this point in time, I believe we in the UK need to get a grip that America is actively against us now, if they are propping up Russia’s war machine, we need to take drastic action in decoupling ourselves from them

Trump signed bipartisan sanctions against Russia, then gutted them before they could take effect. He reopened Russian diesel trade despite existing sanctions, demanded Ukraine stop striking Russian refineries, and publicly attacked President Zelenskyy.

It’s genuinely sad to watch. The President is so weak and incapable of negotiating a real deal that he just posts fake ones on social media and hopes people believe him, until every party involved puts out a statement calling him a liar. We’ve never seen weakness like this in the Oval Office.

Finally getting round to sharing my entry for Eat My Shorts London x In Motion We Are Playgrounds with the theme 'London Moves' Maybe perhaps a little too subtle, my number was '2' and it was very much walking around St James's Park where it leapt at me, and remembering the old BBC 2 idents.

Brad Bird says he’s happy with the final CG animation of ‘RAY GUNN’, but also thinks Hollywood has turned against 2D animation. “Studios think audiences won’t accept that... I don’t agree that hand-drawn animation isn’t commercial.” Find out more... discussingfilm.net/2026/09/23/b...

Look at this loathsome repulsive creature yelling at a reporter. In addition to the fact that he’s the worst president in US history, he’s one of the worst human beings on planet earth. His supporters have a very serious defect in their character.

We’ve got a great thing going with indie animation - but there’s a lot of incredible lesser-known talents out there, outside of your Glitch and Spindlehorse shows. The cool thing about indie stuff is it can come from anyone and anywhere; you just gotta look for it and share what you love.

As it is Skynet Day, it seems as good a time as any to share that data center based LLM Ai is caught in a death spiral which is going largely unreported in the media. In short, major insurers are creating carve outs for Ai, refusing to insure it, causing corporations to abandon its front facing use.
