Now out in Hippocampus!! 📣💥 We examined anatomical inputs to the hippocampal region in six species - the tenrec, rat, marmoset, cat, macaque, and human - and found that hippocampal processing operates on fundamentally different types of information across species! (1/3) dx.doi.org/10.1002/hipo...

Great piece by OxCIN researcher @mattweightman26.bsky.social and long-standing collaborator Ned Jenkinson, making brain stimulation relevant and understandable for a non-academic audience.

The Conversation UK@uk.theconversation.com

Researchers are exploring whether stimulating the brain with electric currents or magnetic fields helps people learn physical skills more effectively.

Excited to see our fMRI paper is out, led by Itamar Kahn’s lab. Our grad students, Amir Lawen and Bella Succi, in collab with Darcy Peterka, built a setup for simultaneous fMRI and dopamine fiber photometry in awake behaving mice. We learned some new biology too. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I’m very proud to share this work with you! Fiorella and the team spent a lot of time thinking deeply about recent results; why are interoception and mental health unrelated? We think the field must escape the “quiescence trap” to progress!

Pumped to get this out! Sarah made an elegant design and got a cool result. It highlights a challenge of our field: infants can resemble adults under some comparisons but those comparisons could disguise fundamental differences! Also this is the lab’s first prereg and it came out pretty clean!

Some months ago, I wrote a skeptical reply to a commentary on bots in online studies in PNAS, arguing that no evidence yet exists for such bots. Together with the authors of the original commentary, we now show that bots can pass (almost?) all online cognitive studies with human-like performance 1/n

Christoph Strauch@cstrauch.bsky.social

How much of a risk are LLM-generated bots for online behavioral experiments? We present results of an entirely natural language prompt-generated agent, capable of absolving any of the 26 experiments we tested it on. Most tasks are passed with data that can pass as human osf.io/preprints/ps... (1/)
