The new generation. #vinyl #Scene26 #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying

My Norwegian niece has sent us the latest installment for CD Club. Listening to this this morning, and I’m very proud of her. She is 15 and loves her vinyl and CDs and has discovered the joy of the mixtape. It’s also good education for me as to what The Kids™ are listening to #CDs #MixTape

She also painted a lovely autumn scene on the CD itself. ❤️

I’m in a Weller frame of mind, so cooking along to this one now. #TheStyleCouncil #OurFavouriteShop #vinyl #VinylCommunity #JonsCookingMusic

It is 8.30 in the morning and I have already done the washing up, cleaned the kitchen and marinated the chicken for tonight’s Korma. I may have coffee and #jazz to celebrate before getting to work on some much needed SEO for my website.

Nothing groundbreaking here, I don’t think I’m much of a film buff, but I loved all of these and frequently rewatch. #my9films

Is your name Eloise? Have you now or ever had a boyfriend/partner/husband called Mark? Did Mark love you, as always? And lastly, were you a Bruce Springsteen fan? If so, I may have your record. #BruceSpringsteen #vinyl #EloiseAndMark

Another fresh from a bath. I admit to not playing this one too often, but it’s always a good listen. Not the same feel as their earlier stuff, but I like this era Stranglers. #vinyl #TheStranglers #Feline #NowPlaying #VinylCommunity

Just cleaned this and giving it a spin. There’s a lot to like on this record, folk, certainly, with definite prog leanings. Hard not to be with Rick Wakeman in your band I guess. A slow starter but comes to life midway through side 1. #vinyl #Stawbs #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying

Starting Saturday evening early with Pugwash and The Olympus Sound. Definitely one for fans of XTC who heavily influence Walsh’s song writing. Andy Partridge even gets a writing (and vocal) credit on Here We Go Round Again, and that track alone is like a lost XTC tune. #vinyl

Slightly earlier from 1979 and an early vehicle for pre-Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. If you don’t know The Tourists (of course you do), So Good To Be Back Home Again, which closes off side A, is the one you’ll have heard. #vinyl #TheTourists #LP #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying

Friday night vinyl. First off a band that I think should be more talked about, The Vapors. You’ll know them from Turning Japanese, but they were a better band than just that single. This one is from 1981. #vinyl #TheVapors #LP #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying

Back to it. Filters changed, whole machine cleaned. The never ending vinyl refresh continues… #HumminGuru #Vinyl #VinylCleaning #RevivalFluid #VinylCommunity

I often get asked if sonic cleaning is really that effective. Well, if anybody is wondering about the amount of dirt and crap the #HumminGuru picks up, here’s a new vs old filter picture. That’s after about a month’s worth of use.

Wel, the curries are simmering (yeah, that’s right, curries PLURAL) so I guess I should be simmering. And who better to simmer to than Lauryn Hill. Stating the obvious here, but this is such a good album. #vinyl #LaurynHill #NowPlaying #JonsCookingMusic

Well that was depressing. What was I thinking? The Smiths is not what I need right now. Time to up the mood with some Focus. Like wearing a poncho, it’s impossible to be sad listening to Focus. #vinyl #NowPlaying #JonsCookingMusic #Focus

Not sure what neurons have fired to take me from Muddy Waters to The Smiths, but who are we to question biology? Bought on the day of release and still sounding as fresh as a gladiolus in Morrissey’s back pocket. #vinyl #JonsCookingMusic #TheSmiths #NowPlaying

I am cooking what can only be described as an Indian Feast tonight, and I haven’t done a #JonsCookingMusic for a while. So let’s start the early evening off with a bit of Muddy Waters to accompany the chopping of many onions. #vinyl #MuddyWaters #NowPlaying

S.F.Sorrow by The Pretty Things. Widely accepted to be the first Rock Opera, pre-dating The Who’s Tommy by about 5 months (in the UK at least). It’s a great record in its own right. This one is a repress on the Rare Earth label and sounds excellent. #NowPlaying #vinyl #ThePrettyThings #SFSorrow

I confess I’m not much of a Dylan fan. I think it’s because his voice has been parodied so often I find it hard to listen to. However, this album is pretty great. I don’t play it very often, but just cleaned it and putting it back in rotation. #BobDylan #BloodOnTheTracks #vinyl #NowPlaying

Also found this one the other day - hadn’t heard it in years. Spear Of Destiny, especially Liberator, were popular in the scooter rally days. A nostalgia buy, but glad to have that track alone on vinyl. The rest of the album is unremarkable, but it was cheap! #vinyl #NowPlaying #SpearOfDestiny

Mooching around town yesterday I came across this curiosity. They’re a local band and they use each advance they get from the label to commission a standing stone. Cool. This is ambient folk and it’s really rather good. Ltd edition etched vinyl, from Oxfam. #vinyl #TheStandingStones #Stroud
