Even many left-of-center folks in California feel that the California Coastal Commission has too much authority. While it certainly has been a force for good in preserving our coastline and natural habitats, they haven't been able to strike the right balance and need some checks and balances.

If the Arc de Trump gets built, I am fully willing to have tax dollars spent to immediately destroy it when a pro-democracy government is in place.

We should already be planning for what comes after the Trump cult implodes. MAGA caused so much damage because it spent four years preparing and then moved quickly. The pro‑democracy movement, meanwhile, does not appear to be working toward a coherent plan for rebuilding.

I’m seeing progressives argue the path to winning is moving ever further left. That ignores reality: moderates are core to the coalition. Former Republicans like me want to work with Dems—but not be taken for granted. Broad coalitions win; purity loses.
