A medida que las redadas de ICE continúan afectando a las familias de Oregón, quiero compartir la guía de recursos de inmigración del Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield para que usted y su familia puedan #ConocerSusDerechos. (English translation in comments)

The cost of housing can make or break a family’s budget. Affordable housing programs, such as the Housing Choice Voucher Program, are essential safety nets when the housing market can’t meet the needs of the community. 🧵

This award will enable the Housing Authority of Portland to continue its essential work to support our most vulnerable households and keep roofs over the heads of countless Portland families.

Thank you to the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network youth ambassadors for meeting with me to discuss the importance of supporting and strengthening cancer research and for telling your stories about how cancer affected your families. We must continue to fund research and fight for a cure.

BIG NEWS: In response to a legal challenge from our office, the Trump administration today confirmed it has no plans to build ICE detention facilities anywhere in Oregon. We’ll continue to fight for Oregonians’ rights and the safety of communities across the state.

Access to quality, affordable child care is important for families, communities, and the economy. And spending time with young children is a great way to start the morning! Thanks to KinderCare for the wonderful tour and for giving me the opportunity to read to some very enthusiastic children.

October is Head Start Awareness Month. Thank you to the countless educators and administrators across Oregon and the country who work tirelessly to support early learners and their families. 🧵

Students give me hope for the future. I had a great tour and visit at McKinley Elementary in Beaverton. Thank you to the educators and staff for all you do to support students. And a special shoutout to the fifth graders for such thoughtful civics questions!

The research and science from this office will help us understand and protect the health of the Columbia River, salmon, and lamprey. I’m glad I was able to secure federal funding to support this work.

Students thrive when they have access to a well-rounded education and wraparound support services at school. I introduced a bipartisan resolution in support of a whole child approach to education. Students are more likely to thrive when they have support inside and out of the classroom.

It will soon be 2027 and the grand opening of the James Beard Public Market in downtown Portland! I got a sneak peek at the progress and can’t wait to be back for the ribbon cutting.

This world class culinary market will bring residents and visitors to downtown to shop, eat, explore, and learn at 40 small businesses. Thanks to the Market for your commitment to accept SNAP so more people can access the delicious food there.

Thank you to the Oregon State Fire Marshal, Oregon National Guard, Clackamas Fire, United States Coast Guard, FEMA, and other emergency preparedness experts for showing us how they are preparing to protect us when there is a disaster.

My Transforming Education for the Future Act will provide a well-rounded education for students, support teaching and learning, and address socioeconomic barriers to success and growth.

Arts and culture are important to communities, democracy, the economy, and our future. The arts are healing, and especially important in these uncertain times. Thank you to arts leaders of NW Oregon, including the Oregon Arts Commission and Oregon Cultural Trust, for a wonderful event.

I spoke with local elected officials, business owners, and community organizations affected by delayed mail delivery in Astoria, and I visited the post office to try to get some answers. 🧵

It’s a difficult time for Oregonian children, families, educators, and community members. Here are a few local and national resources on mental health and surviving gun violence. 🧵

For everyone’s safety and security, large bags and backpacks are not allowed at the town hall meetings. Small purses no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are permitted. Attendees will not be allowed inside if they do not comply with these safety regulations. Doors will open an hour before each event.

As a parent and policymaker, my heart is breaking for the students, families, teachers, and staff at Silver Rail Elementary School and the entire Bend community. No parent should have to wonder if their child will come home at the end of the day. 🧵

Thank you to the Coalition of Slavic and Eastern European Organizations for visiting my office and for your advocacy. I will continue to fight this administration’s inhumane immigration policies and support programs that assist immigrants and refugees.

Great news for Oregon! We cut the ribbon for the PSU Jordan Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design, where students will learn, creativity will thrive, and artists will connect with the community. And it’s made with mass timber!

Everyone deserves accessible health care, and cuts from HR1 (Republicans’ Big Ugly budget Bill) are endangering Oregonians’ health care access and funding to places like CAP NW.

It was an honor to celebrate two former colleagues whose work on transportation shaped our state and nation. Reps. Blumenauer and DeFazio spent decades fighting for policies and resources to support multimodal transportation—including bike infrastructure—and Oregon is a better place because of them.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day we recognize and honor the histories, cultures, and traditions of Indigenous communities and Tribal Nations that shape and strengthen our nation.

Despite this, Oregonians are working together to care for friends and neighbors targeted by ICE. I stand with you and I will not stop demanding answers and working to get my constituents back home with their families.
