Reminder my daily check-in's main purpose is to let others know I'm alive and okay, and I encourage EVERYONE to give similar going forward. Let people know you're still around. Going forward, every day will be uncertain. Affirmations are just a secondary bonus to the checking in. Stay strong. <3

I come from an extremely competitive family when it comes to board/card/similar games, to the point where I stunlock my wife detailing what we've done to win and describing how we cheat at things designed to not be cheatable. Today I explained how we learned to rig coinflips to always be a win.

I know I kinda drowned it out through my various passionate political tirades, but one reason I’m so passionate about these things is I’m living the consequences. Namely, I’m a disabled neurodivergent queer constantly on the verge of homelessness. Any donations help www.gofundme.com/f/g94h3-we-n...

Been nearly a month since I last asked for help, but this upcoming week is looking extra scary. I currently don’t have food stamps, and don’t think we have the money for all of our room, gas, and food. So, GFM link time again. www.gofundme.com/f/g94h3-we-n...

A follow-through to this thread; In general, Empathy and listening to lived experiences are my greatest guides. But I definitely get more hot in my takes with what I feel the logical conclusions of my philosophies are. There are plenty who share my beliefs who disagree with me on the best paths.

Exclusionary practices, othering of individuals, gatekeeping, belittling others, and ignoring lived experiences and anecdotal accounts are all, in general, bad. Communities, mutual aid and support, and uplifting each other and helping each other overcome our shortcomings is, in general, good.

The consequences are until next election cycle, you're stuck with the candidate who shares 0% of your values, who pushes things further away from your goals. You may HOPE the positive is next cycle produces a candidate who is 80-90+% of your values. But hopes aren’t a likely outcome, are they?

You're actually more likely to instead be stuck next cycle with a candidate who only shares 50-60% of your values, because you discarded the chance to empower 70% of your values.

Critical thinking skills involve looking at the possible outcomes to an action vs. the possible outcomes of an inaction. For instance, what consequences are there to a vote, vs. what consequences are there to not voting? Keeping in mind here the ultimate goal is PROGRESS, and realistic outcomes.

If there’s a candidate who supports 70% of your views but you refuse to vote for them because 70% is too low and the 30% is a dealbreaker, When the opposite candidate holds 0% of your views, critical thinking time: What are the consequences of not voting the candidate with 70% of your values?

It’s easy to take a simple viewpoint which is 80% correct, but to get closer to 100% requires nuance, and those nuances come from viewing the issue from multiple angles. While we can’t do nuance for everything, we can and should use nuance for as much as we possibly can. Critical thinking skills!

From there, a next step? I believe actions and inactions always carry consequences. I use "consequences" not INHERENTLY as a negative, there’s positive 'consequences'(results), but I use the term to illustrate how even good actions/inactions carry results to things not getting done which could've.

Critical thinking skills are vital. Leftists like to dunk on MAGA cultists for being in an echo chamber and being so set un their beliefs they’re unwilling to be challenged in them, considering the idea as intimidation. MAGA have group think views, etc. But too many leftists have the same behavior.

Too many leftists are so sure their way is the best/only way, that their dogpiles and boycotts are always in the right, that their cancelation of celebrities is always the correct choice, etc., you get the idea, that they forget to do their research, and view other opinions on subjects.

A candidate who is the best available of the pool in an election cycle is worth supporting that election cycle, because then we can get a better candidate who is even better next election cycle, for instance. Radical change isn’t made overnight. It’s made through...

For instance, there’s a common saying amongst artists; Perfection is the enemy of good. I believe that philosophy applies politically: No perfect candidate will ever exist. So Perfection is the enemy of "good enough FOR NOW", i.e., Perfection is the enemy of Progress. And Progress is the goal.

Not that there should ever be any doubt, but to be clear: I’m anti-genocide, Pro-LGBTQIA+, especially pro-trans, Anti-hate, Anti-crypto, Anti-AI, Anti-bigotry, Anti-fascist, Anti-corporation, Anti-billionaire (heck, even anti-millionaire), Anti-Zionist, Against antisemitism, Pro-endo for systems,

Those tenets can be espoused upon endlessly, but provide my moral backbone: Learning is sacret. Science and history are good. Critical thinking skills are vital. The goal should always be to leave future generations with greater happiness and prosperity than the past generations had.

I have a large focus on empathy and pragmatic gradual change despite ambitions demands of my dreams. A world where there’s high mutual support and a low value on monetary value, and where people of every socioeconomic background can thrive. A place where the neurodivergent and disabled can thrive.

I can’t list everything I’m pro/anti on (for instance, I didn’t list pro-union or anti-institutionaluzed/organized religion while pro-spirituality), but in general, the guiding compasses: The suffering/death of humans is unacceptable. Knowledge is sacred. Progress is always the goal.

And just about as far left as is possible on every issue. I've literally written drafts of a new modern Constitution, banning political parties altogether, with a laundry list of regulations for housing and renting, measures against corporations which hopefully protect small businesses, etc.

Apartheid was legal. South Africa was run by Christian Nationalists. We had Christian Nationalist education. Religious Instruction was Christian instruction. These things were legal. As a young gay atheist I was illegal and refused exemption from RE. Imagine what young black kids felt!

And neither is "we've always done it this way" a basis for ANYthing. "Tradition" is merely a way of continuing to do wrong when you have no evidence, no moral or ethical foundation.

Genocide against my people was legal. Stealing our land was and STILL IS legal. Both were considered Christian as well. Everything you listed was also considered Christian. Being Legal is not a measure Morality. Being Christian is not also, not necessarily, a measure of Morality.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote and performed a song, but never shared it. I figured I'd share the lyrics to it at least. It's called Magic Mountain Mover. [V1 p1] When I was young, I got called gifted. So skilled, so proud, So talented. I avoided every Major pitfall. No drugs, no jail, No alcohol.

[Chorus again] [Bridge] I have to fight, Defeat after defeat. Is there any hope? I have to believe. I have to fight, Defeat after defeat. Is there any hope? I have to believe. Believe in me.

[Chorus x2] [Ending] Is there any hope For me a total loser? Can I make me A magical mountain mover? Is there any hope For me a total loser? Can I make me A magical mountain mover?

[V2 p1] A bright future, Where did it go to? Every day a struggle, Just to get through. To change things, Takes things that I lack. Or so it feels like, No way to get on track. Went down a bad path, But there’s no redirections. Thought I had resources, But I missed my connections.

[V2 p2] I learned more, Especially about myself. But nothing of use, To a capitalistic hell. Work past breaking, Yet I’ve got nothing to show. Tried aid programs, But I've got nowhere to go. I struggle to eat, I lost all of my time. I just wanna live, Is that such a crime?

[Chorus p1] My whole life, Been nothing but a drifter; Forced to beg, I feel like a grifter. Can’t hold down Friends or community; Make promises That I’m constantly breaking.

[Chorus p2] Can’t make enough, Nothing but a money drain; Wasting my life, And I’m the only one to blame. Is there any hope For me a total loser? Can I make me A magical mountain mover?

[V1 p2] I got a license, A job, and a degree. A portfolio, Quite the pedigree. I learned what I could, I did what I was taught. And I thought I grew, I could use what I got. Yet things didn’t go well, I've failed to succeed. All that's left? I’m a washed-up wannabe.

[V1 p3] Something had to have changed, I slipped, dropped somehow. I’ve regressed, I’m lost, What do I do now? What happened to The child prodigy? I was set so well, Why the defeat? What happened to The passionate kid? Why did I fail, How did it come to this?

Been a while since begging for support, but, the need for it is still there. As-is, I'm postponing dental care I desperately need because I can't afford it. And we might not have the funds to stay longer than this week without help. So, plugging the GFM again; www.gofundme.com/f/g94h3-we-n...
