Dieselpunk mecha advancing on Japan, controlled by big ass controllers! Part of Microsoft's charm offensive to win over Japanese gamers, showcased here in Famitisu Xbox Feb 2002's issue: Tekki, aka Steel Battalion.

It doesn’t really fit in the frame, but this beautiful steel battalion controller along with over 300(!!!) original Xbox games are hitting the floor here at the University District store!

"The Full Monty" - the mightiest peripheral of the 2000s: Steel Battalion's beast of a controller. Dozens of mech functions crammed into a twin-stick monster. 📖: Official Xbox Magazine, Xmas 2002.

I was plugged into Tips & Tricks during my formative gaming years. Reading guides to games I've never heard of, on consoles I didn't own, was a fun way to experience them vicariously! Today I'm mostly RSS feeds but I'll still peruse some Dengeki! I wonder who won that Steel Battalion controller.
